Hi ,

someone have experience with this turbo setup ? Just looking for a new setup . Probably run with 200% on a lmm engine.

I'm towing the fifth wheel 5-10 times by summer, Drag and daily for the rest of time.

Looking for 1khp.

I'm personally not the biggest fan of S300s in compound/triple setups as the valley charger/high pressure charger. They don't seem to take the abuse very well and IMO don't quite have the turbine flow to run without a gate.


Do you already have a S3/S4 compound kit? If not, have you thought about going S4/S4 compounds with something like a 464/484-485 or 467/87 and a 488/96 or 488/102?

I don't have personal experience with the set-up your asking about but If I was going to be towing I would look at something that would spool better, 64-65 mm in the valley with a 483-485 should easily get you to 1,000 and tow a whole lot better than 369/488.

I'm running S475/Stock for now. I have a good deal on a S369, that's why i tought about S369/S488.

Yep at this point 68mm/S484 could be interesting too

Guys have definitely made more power than you're goal with a 369sxe/488sxe setup. What generation truck? Depending on generation you may be able to do some sneaky stuff and use Smeding's housings where you wouldn't need to modify piping at all.


If you've already bought the 369 then go for it but my personal opinion would be to go towards S4/S4 compounds as they are miles more reliable/robust as well as have much better flowing turbines.

how heavy do you tow?

are you fixed vane right now or variable on the stock charger? (no indication of what year your truck is)

the 369 is going to take about 2k rpm to really light up. in comparison, you can light the stock charger in the 1500-1700rpm range. doesnt sound like much until you are towing and are running close to stock shift points in T/H.

i have no issues with the 369 vs a 400 frame. they both have their place and either will work just find for the power you are after. its a matter of drivability because you mentioned "towing".

There is nothing wrong with an s300/s400 setup for your goals. I ran a 369/488 gated eetup before going to a 472/491 nongated and I will tell you first hand the 369 is a limiting factor. The exhaust side chokes ralative short of your goal and will need a gate to keep drive pressure in check. Compressor wheel is rather large for the turbine side and leaves a bit to be desired for spool up. My current 472/491 makes way more power effortlessly and spools just as good as the 369/488 did.

Personally, you already have the piping so drop in a 68mm VGT or 72mm VGT and an s485. You will meat your goals and still retain drivability. If you are set on swapping chargers/piping, a 366/485 will get there too and still drive very well. Even a 464/83/.90 & 485/96/1.1 would do wonders to maintain drivabikity and hit your goal easier than either of the 2 suggestions above.

I ran a 64.5/71/.83 with a 80/96/1.10 compound setup in my LMM for a while, and it was one of the best driving compound trucks I ever drove. Extremely responsive and quick to light, but it definitely choked out up top. Guys have made 1k with the standard 366/480 compound setup before, but I can tell you it is way less responsive than what you currently have and will only be slightly better than the S400 combo Richard recommended above. For a truck that is used for towing and daily driving, I think you would be better off sticking with what you have and maybe upgrading to a 68 in the valley and a 485 for the atmo charger. I know a few guys have run that combo and been very happy with it. I'm not a huge fan of big VGTs, but they do have their place. If that's the route you go, you need to have the tuning spot on to get it to run and drive as good as possible. Fixed setups seem to be a little more forgiving.

Agreed, I jumped up to a 1.0 AR housing on the 369 and I am still up about 83psi vs 60 psi of boost.

Well many guys here are running 68mm/s485 i just want to go little bit higher

But like you said if i want to keep my piping i think it will be the best setup.

My built engine will be ready in a couple pf month so i have time to look for a deal.
