i am putting a new AAM torsen posi unit in. The pinion wasn't removed i know i have to set the preload my ? is do i have to adjust or check the backlash?

normal back lash is between .007-.010" for the 1150 AAM
if re-using original gears.. try to macht the wear pattern that is currently on them

Thanks Adam i was .004 all the way around so good to go, just took for test drive seems normal.................well other then the two black marks.

the danger with being too loose or too tight is when the gears get hot(tight) they bind or cold(they are dont have enough contact)
