My buddy is an avid truck puller. This last weekend he killed the rear end after 5 years of pulling. He wants to put a duramax rear end in it if at all possible. Just wonder how easy of a swap it would be. Direct bolt in?

It's an 2004 6.0 4l60? 2500 (LD) GMC Ext short bed 4X4. Auto Trac transfer case.

U joints etc, I know nothing about. Just thought the gear heads here would know.

U-joint/yoke will be bigger on the 1150 vs the 1050 and he'll have to swap gears if he had 4:10s in the 6.0 originally.

Why do I keep doing this?

would he also have to shorten the driveshaft or is that still ok?

Gear ratio will be the same he had 3.73 gears. How do they do it on the 2500HD's with the 6.0? Is it a different shaft all together. In on other words, could I get a factory shaft. I can get one shortened easy enough, just not sure where to get a different yoke.

Will the leaf springs line up, bolt up, brakes?

PM me prices. I am interested in anything anywhere at this point because my sister just got a job in Arkansas. :)
