So I just did a 6" lift and 35's. I kind of knew going into this I might want to re-gear it. It seemed ok at first driving around town I liked it. Well I drove from Soldotna to Wasilla (I live in Alaska) with a 3 place trailer and sled on it. No big deal but I had to lock 6th out because it was just to low of RPM for the pass. It was even worse on my trip back with my new RZR 4 1k. I have stand performance stuff exhaust, egr delete, down pipe, drives side exhaust and efi live from moonshine. So my question is what gears do i go with? Thinking 4.10 4.30 or 4.56. Leaning towards 4.56 just because i drive the pass quiet often usually with some kind of trailer. Speed limit through the pass is 65 speed limit. I do a lot of 55 mph driving as i live off a highway that is 55. Even with stock tires and same mods it seemed like my truck liked 5th better driving in my area and my cts seemed to confirmed by watching the engine load percentage. Anyone with 4.56's think i would be unhappy and think they are too low?IMG_0126.JPG

I think 4.56 are too low, I had them with 37's and it was brutal on the highway...however that was in a 5spd. I was turning like 2200 rpm at 75 mph. That extra gear might do the trick for ya tho assuming your in a 6 spd.

4.30 with 35's would be the equivalent to your 3.73's with stock 245/75/16 tires. I would personnally look into 4.56's since you've added so much more rolling mass to the drivetrain. With 4.56's you would be turning 1900 RPM's at 70 vs 1785 with the stock setup, 4.30's would have you turning 1792. Or you can just lockout 6th and keep it in 5th for towing as that brings you right back to almost the same RPM's in 5th now as 6th was stock.

Thanks guys. I dont think i'd be happy with the 4.10's. Ferm thats what I was thinking that with the extra weight if the 35's the 4.56's would help with that too. I must he getting old. Well betwene that and the kids I dont ever really do much over 70. But it would be nice to be able to use 6th on the flats. Hmmm decisions decisions. Maybe just get the 4.30's to get it back to stock.

You can use this site, put your stock tires, gearing, trans and such in one side, then put your modified sizes in the other, and change the gear ratio until the speeds and rpm's match. You can also change the speed and rpm goals to see what other ratios would give, or compare the 5 speed to a 6 speed or different transmissions.
