Question: banks big head actuator

all LB7's came from the factory with an IHI turbo. The duramax's didnt get Garrett turbos until the 2004.5 LLY. And those garrett turbos were (and still are today on the current LML's) variable vane...no wastegate.

I thought so too but there has been big debates on this forum and others with people saying that they have a stock lb7 that they bought new and it has a garrett, also when you look in gpopsshop.com(turbo remanufacturing company) the rebuild kit they sell for the 2001-2004.5 says it goes to a Garrett but it also says they have the one for the IHI too so I figured I'd make sure.

use a guage and hand pump or compressed air to adjust it.

What is the easiest way to tell if I have it adjusted right? I'm not a moron I just want to make 100% sure that I don't grenade my turbo lol

just keep it under 32 psi, no "smoak" tunes and you should be ok. get a in cab boost guage if you dont have one.

But what is the best way to dial it in? I was thinkin hose barb screwed into the end of a blower and hose clamped to the wastegate actuator feed line and set the regulator on my compressor to 29psi. Am I on the right track?

Looks like that wastegate works as advertised. Ran in a pull last night and logged the run. At ~3400rpm down the track, boost was steady at 33-34lbs, just like I set it. Boost dropped to 32lbs on the 2-3 upshift, not to 27lbs like it normally would.
