Been awhile since I looked at hard parts for an engine build and wow still ridiculously high and then some.

When I did my Z build an LML crank was like 700 bucks. It’s 1900 from gm now. An LB7 was around 1200 and it’s 2100 now!! Granted that was 10 years ago but I didn’t think it would have gotten so out of control.

I didn’t bother looking farther than that lol. Looks like I’m gonna have to start stuffing the mattress for a couple years before I tie into a build!!

Yea it’s ridiculous. I have a built shortblock if you want it. At the rate I’m going, I’m probably never gonna use it.

You wanna see something crazy look up what gm wants for a cp3 mounting plate now.

Yea and machine shop costs have gotten high as well. About double for simple stuff when i just had my LS2 gone through with the assembly myself. Balancing new crank, rods all that. Dress the block and stuff. was like 2k out the door where last time i did something a decade or so ago it would have been half.

It is here the same. Since January 2002 where we Switch to Euro in Germany rise the costs every year.
I have ask for the price of a set Bosch injectors for our LBZ Engine in a local Bosch shop. They want 6000 Euro for the set. The last price i had from an US Shop is 3800 Dollar. Add i the import, taxes and shippment is it the same costs no matter where i purchase. Usually it was 20% cheaper if i am import myself parts.... but this advantage gone more and more

in the buckeye state
Calies durastar is running ~1500.
Callies compu star rods are ~1200
Finger ovals are running ~2100-2500 pending what you want done
Main studs, keyed..
That's fairly stout short block.

IDK what labor for block is anymore

Labor for a block done nice would probably be 2000 ish. That would be thermal clean, shot blast, magnaflux, align hone, deck, bore and hone w/torque plates, and replace cam bearings and freeze plugs. Maybe 2500 if including cost of studs and cam bearings. Ready to start assembly.

Machine shop prices vary by location.

To have an engine machined around here is $2500-$3500 depending on if you get the heads done and if you want it short blocked.

My last engine was ~$3200 and they did:
1) Thermal clean/shot blast/flux block
2) Line hone
3) Decked
4) Bored/honed with torque plates
5) Fluxed/polished crank
6) R&R cam bearings
7) Convert press in oil galley plugs to threaded
8) Balance rotating assy
9) Short block the engine setting clearances and ring gaps to provided spec
10) Deck/pressure check heads
11) Machine heads for threaded cups and install threaded cups (LB7)
12) Replaced all guides and honed to size
13) Replaced a large number of seats
14) Valve job
15) Install new valve stem seals
16) Swap on new valve springs

I'm likely forgetting something but you get the idea haha
