"OFFICIAL" What did you do to your D-Max today?

I noticed [THREAD=78166]my duraburb[/THREAD] was leaking power steering fluid. The return hose to the cooler had started to rub through on the intercooler pipe, and the metal nipple into the steering box wasn't seated properly, apparently.


I put another piece of hose over the spot that rubs and secured it with friction tape, put a new nipple in, and got it reinstalled.


No more leak!

Installed a MA pump rub kit , transfer case has 137,000 I didn't see any significant wear whatsoever The little clip was barely starting to dig in and it was still in its location

Only had this truck for about 300 miles /3 months
I'm glad I did it finally that's all I would think about as I was driving

unless you pulled the chain out and the gears off to get the mode forks, you didnt dig deep enough to look at the parts that wear out unfortunately.

I was more concerned about the part that actually is more likely to cause the damage like the pump rubbing through the case, didn't have a reason to go through and inspect the rest under the gears

when the mode forks die, they can cause some damage inside when the 4low collar decides to ride up against the dogs and tear things up. the 4wd one isnt as big a deal but can make quite a racket when it is dieing.

Well thanks for the heads up on that one if it ever gets noisy I definitely will tear it back down , this was my first time tearing down a transfer case so I didn't get knee-deep in it

Yay I did something today. Replaced the fuel level sensor so the truck doesn't read on E randomly and when I have 10gal of fuel left. Cleaned the fuel tank out. Happy not to see any water or a bunch of rust in the tank. The Gates fuel line running in the tank down to my Kennedy pickup didn't show any signs of splitting.

I had to repaint the rear crossmember above the tank again. I don't know how you guys in the up north don't have these things rotting out. I had to paint it the last time I dropped the tank in 2011 too. I only go up into the rust belt a few times a year. Maybe I'll dump some oil up there next time I make a trip.

Parked in front of a RV parking post that was offset from the park spot. Went to leave and made it about 6”. Pulled the clear bra and the only thing that was scratched was the clear bra ABSOLUTELY NO PAINT TRANSFER!!!
I will never not have clear bra as long as I live.

I've been on a wheel-buying binge these past couple months, since I was putting winter tires on the family's cars. $75 for a set of Pontiac GP wheels in better condition than my daughter's regular ones, $100 for a set of OEM 16s in great shape for my son's G6, and $175 for a set of --Im not kidding -- 2014 Buick Regal 17s in absolutely brand new condition for my wifes Malibu. Then winter tires for all. Yes, I spent some $$, but did a boatload of research and found deals on all the tires. My family's safety is paramount to me. I even broke down and bought winter tires for my Cruze, I dunno, maybe b/c I like driving it over BBT (please dont tell the truck that, ok?).

So, Im searching Craiglist for the hell of it b/c I was bored, and came across a set of 18x8 Buick Verano 10-spoke machine face wheels with tires for $200. I couldnt pass them up. Texted the guy and offered $150, we settled on $160. The wheels ended up being even better condition than what the pictures showed. The tires are usable (but I'll be buying new though), TPMS sensors and all 20 stock lugnuts. Hell, the Cruze center caps fit these wheels, too.
To me, these are a sizable improvement in looks over the OEM Cruze 17s.

Sounds like he had a a clear paint protection film on his truck. Think of it as a clear vinyl wrap. He just peeled off the scratched up clear film and there was no damage to the paint.

Good score on the wheels and tires. I've been looking off and on for a deal on some nicer 8x6.5 for the work truck for over a year. Everyone wants $400 for wheels in bad shape with bald tires.

That’s exactly it, the only difference (that I know of) between clear bra and wrapping vinyl is that clear bra is thicker and it doesn’t have the pin holes in it so laying it down must be a pain. I should have made a video but I didn’t think to do it because i was surprised that there was no paint damage

Shined up the engine bay and detailed it good. Pressure washed the door jams and all. Kinda makes you wish you lived in the city when you clean them up like that!

I changed my thermostats. Now I have heat again! :happy2:

Installed 2 new cv's from Oreillys, new led drl's, and adjusted the rear shackles 1/2 inch lower. Drove the truck to open the thermostats and refilled the coolant tank. I know I will have to top off the tank for a couple more days.

Going to replace the boots on the oem cv's with gm boots later on.
