No Start Condition

Yesterday I was driving my truck, and it drove fine to my parents' house approximately 12 miles from my house to their house. I let it sit for about 1.5 hours. Went back out to get in it and go home and the truck ran for about maybe 2 minutes and just shut completely off. I tried to prime it and start it multiple times and nothing. It would crank but never start. I had it towed to mechanic so I am not sure what exactly to look for. There is no lift pump on the truck and keep in mind it does sit for periods of time. I am having the mechanic install a FASS Lift Pump Kit. I have not heard back from the mechanic yet but seeking some feedback from the experts on what it could be. Thank you.

Need to put a scanner on it to see if any codes and to scan some PIDs

Could be many things such as a cam or crank sensor, fuel line collapsed, CP3 failed, ECM, transmission P/N signal, VATs, etc

I kind of figured it could be a laundry list of stuff. I am hoping it is the injection pump that failed or something on the fuel system just not injectors, but who knows at this point. I am still waiting to hear from the mechanic. Thank you for the information.

You don't really want it to be the injection pump and that can send contamination into the injectors causing you to need to replace all of them plus the pump.

What you really want is something simple like a cam sensor

Ok I take that back then. I hope it is not something serious, but I guess we will see when the mechanic looks at it. Still have not heard from them yet. I will keep everyone posted. Thank you for the good information.

Probably a bad bleeder O ring, about a 15 cent repair.

I heard back from the mechanic. It turns out there is leak out of the couplers that is on the fuel lines, so it was sucking in air. It had just enough diesel in the Fuel filter to get me to my destination. I am getting a FASS lift pump installed and the mechanic will see where the leak is actually coming from. The mechanic had to pull diesel from the test valve (No clue what this is) to get the truck to prime to start. So it runs now and still at the shop getting the lift pump installed.

Test valve is the brass port with the black plastic cap near the alternator
