Happens all the time. When we have trees to cut on my dad's property my dad calls me, his 2 retired brothers and offers to pay my teenage cousin who is always complaining about being broke. Come work day it's usually just me and my dad out there. It's a different story when they want the firewood though.

I haven't had that problem much, I don't have many friends but the ones I have have always been right there for me. I would let them know what goes around comes around for sure. Sucks wrenching by yourself, I hate it.

Happens to me ALL the time. Other people are busy, too. I just deal with it.

Heck, I have to set stuff up with my kids far in advance now b/c they are so busy themselves...esp my daughter. Id hate to have her schedule.

I have worked on every vehicle that my 4 brothers have owned since I was 16. Even when I did the head gaskets in my dmax it sat all winter till breakup so I could get help but no one helped then. My twins balls are in his girlfriends purse so he show up for ten minutes then has to leave to go to her parents.

You just have to learn to do it yourself and not rely on flakes... Don't be there for people who are not there for you, F-em:thumb:

One of my friends is like that. The rest of them know when each other needs help we come give a hand. When it comes to working on my own vehicles I just do it myself. I like to be organized with where my bolts are.

My dad on the other hand he has a tendency to put bolts back in the holes they came out of and it drives me crazy. When I'm putting something back together and have to pull a bolt again because he put it back in. I put all my up top bolts in order left to right on each side of the car by the windshield wipers and all the bolts under the car by the jack stands

I have always done it like this and have never been short of bolts or have any left over. I used to pull transmissions and rebuild them and a guy I had work for me he would have bolts all over in coffee cans that would also drive me nuts.

Your Dad is a smart man... If you ever work a job that someone else has tore apart and there are nice little piles of bolts here and there, you will think differently. Not a big deal on jobs you've done a thousand times but step into something new and your going to be pissed and have lots of odd length hardware left over. My work runs 24-7 365 days a year. Lots of jobs getting turned over to me and others. I try very hard to set my coworkers up for success:thumb:

One general contractor still has a mark on his record due to this, had a commitment from the lead superintendent to meet me on a job at 4AM to move/install a 3'-0" x 8'-9" solid core fire rated door before 8 AM (no work in corridors after 8AM) waited about 30-45 minutes and no show, went at myself and tore my rotator cuff, he shows about 6:30 AM, I went ahead and finished the install even being injured, drove to the Dr. later in the day....

The insurance carrier is still paying me, bad part, it is my left shoulder, I'm left handed and have a partial replacement in the right shoulder, but, I manage....

I have a bad habit of putting bolts back into the holes, because if I don't I loose them or have shit left over, usually when I'm working on something I'm in a hurry and don't have time to **** around and I'm a scatter brain anyhow.

That's makes sense if more than one person has their hands on something but I try not to let that happen. Most stuff I work on is in my garage so I'm the only one working on it.

New age man, I'm only 27 but time is changing. All the 20 year olds I know around here are ****in worthless, geeked out on their I phones or a smack head

The only thing I am on my phone for it to figure things out. Barely text people. I haven't even played a video game in 3 months. I have even been on short term disability with savanna well servicing for the past 4 months. Just got laid off because I have bad hearing. Deaf in left side and only 65% in the right side.

I'm pretty self sufficient. I like taking on projects myself and working on them. Having friends come over generally slows me down just cause we bs too much. Plus the fact, not many think like me in how to remove something, being smart with stuck parts, or know where my tools are. I have just 2-3 friends I know can do that but we all have busy lives anymore. I can be really particular about things too lol. When we go to the dunes or camping, I've become the camp mechanic. It pays well in beer lol. Plus it's fun to figure out the issue and see if we can fix it for the weekend. My only issue is when those select few show up that never prep their shit, have a break down, and expect me or others to help fix it. Needless to say, they don't stay in the group long.

My place use to be the place to bring your shit and fix it. With the little one and my own projects, I've had to back that off. It's a good and bad thing
