New Website, Automated Licensing, New Release

Just over a week ago we lauched our new look website. http://www.efilive.com/

This launch finally delivered our much promised Automated License purchasing scheme. I'm pleased to say that to date it has been working flawlessly with licenses delivered within 10 minutes of order placement :) making many customers as well as EFILive staff VERY happy.

Along with the new website, another public software release has been made. V7.5.5 Build 72 and V8.1.2 Build 42 were both released. Unfortunately, the automated software updating system we implemented a few months back did not work as required :( We've now changed installer packages and beleive that the new installer package will meet our needs :) Unfortuately this means that you will need to uninstall your current software and then install this release. The new downloads can be found at http://www.efilive.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=124

The below links to the release notes for this current release. It also details how to setup/change the auto update checks. http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?t=9316

I'm using 7.5.4 build 64, is there any advantage to upgrading for the LLY's at this point, I dont plan on using the v2 dsp switching as i'm happy with the old manuel switch.

Guess what i'm getting at, I sure hate to risk messing up anything by upgrading :baby:

Larry, if you are happy with your current build and don't need the new DSP function then you are fine to stay the way you are. You will be missing out on the automated software update functionality, which moving forward will make the whole update and installation process easier.

Unfortunately at some point of time you will need to uninstall and reinstall EFILive - the timing is up to you. If it's any consolation, I don't think that we will have any more updates in the next 3-4 weeks; we are off to SEMA later this week so development will stop until we return and recover from the jet lag :(

OK, I successfully read Casper, and updated the Boot Block and Firmware with the new computer and software. AOK.

Suggestions:

When the Windows device driver locator starts, could it be pointed at the correct directory? IIRC, that's a registry setting that can be changed.

FlashScan starts out with a default ECM setting for an F-Body. Don't us Diesel Guys rate? :D I would suggest LLY.

Instructions for updating Firmware/Bootblock are more complex than necessary for new users. For new users, there should be a Help File that skips all the "If you have 7.04.5x2B, then do this, but if you have 7.05.5x2C, then do this instead. Of course if you have 7.04.5x2F, you must do this...". Since they are installing the software from scratch, most of what is in the help file is N/A. The procedure is very simple, but the instructions aren't.

I successfully got the update loaded, I did not do the blackbox/bootloader update yet, I was able to hook to the truck and read with scan tool, the old pid files still work. I have not tried to read a tune or flash a tune, but I dont see a problem in doing that.
