I gotta go get 2 yards of 2.5 inch river rock soon. I can record my edge and boost gauge when I go get that if you want me too. Or I can hook up my 22 foot enclosed and stuff a car in it. I have been impressed with the towing with the 369sxe. Granted I do have to pay more attention to egts but it’s very manageable.

here is what im looking for:

have EFI Live or something with logging capabilities that can read boost and rpm. place the truck in 5th gear in tow/haul mode so the converter is locked. slow to 55mph and record your rpm there. goal is to be around 1500-1600rpm. Once there, roll into the throttle heavy (you can get to about 75-80% throttle before a down shift and thats all thats needed) and do not let it down shift. if it does, start over. from the time you roll into it, start a log of the truck either with EFI Live or with the CTS. stay in it till boost hits 20psi. once you do, post the log up.

if you dont have a means of logging, video the RPM gauge and the boost gauge together and run the test. that will be a good estimate.

what this test does is tell me how long it takes boost to build on this charger and at what rpm it starts to come on. People claim it spools as fast as a stock 66mm so that would mean at about 1800rpm, the charger should start coming on and then take off 1-200 rpm after. this will tell us just where it actually is.

James I will do that for ya. I can get you one right now without the trailer if ya want

that works. using the trailer helps drag out the time you are at certain rpms. without one will tell us the actual spool up time over all as well.

That’s about as hard as I could roll into it without it downshifting. I think mark has my tcm tuned to downshift with less input, keep in mind the edge is super laggy too.

thanks Josh. its pretty on par with a a box stock 66, maybe a tad slower but tuning could probably quicken it up. was it smokey at all?

I’m pretty sure my truck doesn’t even shift into 5th til 60ish when I’m tow haul.

correct but you can slow back down to 50-55 while still in 5th unless the TCM has been adjusted.

That video shows it coming on around 1950 cause the edge is laggy refreshing the numbers. I’d say it comes on between 1800-1900. I have the .91 housing also

thats what i was figuring as well. i had a buddy a few years back do some s366 testing for me. 1800 is right where it came on every time. for a 69mm fixed vane turbo, that is damn good

Yes I have been more than happy with it. Towed yesterday and it did amazing. I’m anxious to see how different it will be with some 100s

So would you be willing to say that a 366sxe would spool decently quicker?

thats kind of open ended. everyones definition of a "quick spooling" is different. when this test is ran, it gives something to compare to, then a decision can be made.

Im saying in regards to the 369sxe vs s366sxe. I remember reading a while ago that they are virtually the same in spool up, just wondering if anyone has found any new info. Sorry to veer off course op.

I don't see a single issue towing 15k on this 69sxe of mine. I towed 10k the other day and it did perfectly fine on 265s. Stayed on top of the charger no problem with stock part throttle shifts. No smoke on the 1175uS tune towing. 4000-5500ft elevation. Don't have any problems making boost 17-1800rpm. Next time I'll throw in the V2 and get some logs.

run it down to 1500-1600rpm for me next time Blake. im curious where it fits with my modded stocker. 10-15psi is pretty easy down there.

Update for James: 15-1600 RPM 8-11psi of boost 5th gear TC locked 1000-1200* EGTs, once I hit 1800RPM I'm up to 14-18psi. 900-1100* EGTs. 10,000lbs behind me this afternoon. A small haze in the 15-1600 range once I see the boost climb over 12psi no smoke whatsoever. Cruise set at 70mph I'm seeing 8-12psi and 850-1200* EGTs. 72* outside. It honestly makes more boost in the lower Rs then I expected.
