Had a chance to pick up a 2016 Canyon Duramax cheap. Bought it knowing it would have problems, but it's in surprisingly good shape, considering 210,000 miles on the clock. I found and addressed some wire chafing issues that are common on these. The torque converter had a nasty shudder, but I added a tube of Lubegard Shudder Fixx, and the shudder is 98% gone. Very impressive stuff. The transmission still seems a bit tired overall, though. I may rebuild it later this year. The wheels are rough, got a set sitting in the shop to go on. Should have pictures with those tomorrow.

Here it is at the Copart lot where it was sold

I should probably start a new thread in the transmission forum at some point, but if anyone here has advice or recommendations on 6L50 upgrades and improvements, I'm all ears.

I believe the zip kit for the 6l80 is the same as the 6l50. I think that’s it for upgrades though. I’d also at least reseal the techum while in there.

Yeah, I've heard talk about an 80 swap, but no one feels it's worth the effort I guess. I mean, some guys were / maybe are running compounds on these, and didn't upgrade the 50 right away.

I blew up my turbo a few weeks ago on a road trip. :( At 211,000 miles, it didn't really owe me anything though. Here she is all loaded up for the ride homeIMG_20250526_084622_227.jpg
