Bought these on a whim after seeing someone like a simile proxy. T cheaper than Moog on rock auto so figured I’d give em a shot. About $32 I believe and lifetime warranty. Very well packaged and seemingly well built. Nice good and green color. Come with all hardware including a fancy cotter pin. The boot has a little weep hole for grease overflow instead of coming out the edges. We will see how they hold up. Pic dump below.

Yes I know. They could still pop out. Happened to a good friend of mine. A whimpy little snap ring is no match for the heavy front end of a duramax.

The upper ball joint doesn't carry any weight. The only time it is loaded is when the suspension is at full droop, and the load is pulling down at that point.

The only force pushing up on it is from friction in the UCA bushings, which should be well below what even a wimpy snap ring can handle.

Gotcha. I did not know that. The passenger side upper on my friends did pop up though. Maybe he didn’t install them correctly?

I don’t think I’ll ever reuse my control arms more than thru one ball joint change for that reason. Seems to me the hole would get wallered out and make it easier for them to slide out

I never replace just the upper ball joint on these trucks; I replace the whole arm. It isn't much more money and, in my opinion, a little bit less work to change the whole upper control arm.

The ease of changing is well worth the extra $$
And peace of mind because I also have had one wiggle out and had to fix before it completely dislodged

That’s what I’ve started doing. Entire moog upper control arms on Amazon are $60. 5 min change

And I just bought these exact ones. Sounds fishy tho.

Yeah I don’t believe that they’re bad. Maybe lowers and tie rods made them think they had play. If you’d like to use this thread to track your progress with them please feel free to. The more experience the better.

I will be. They are the same joint that Kryptonite sells by the looks of it. With no fine print lifetime warranty.

Same part number as on my box except mine don't say KR they say TKX.....

Good to know. I thought they looked similar. I’m very glad I didn’t pull the plug in Kryptonite stuff. I got mine from Rock Auto and I swear they also said lifetime but that’s always a crap shoot.
