What an absolutely beautiful day today. 68* and sunny.

You idiots all have IQs easily surpassing 100. :ROFLMAO:
A whole three brain cells, two are fighting for second place and third is on flicker. Or as the old man might say, one brain cell away from schitting himself

Had a long weekend of hauling rusty junk.

Saturday, I hauled a 05 Cateye CCSB LLY from Montrose to Detroit to help out a friend of one of my grandsons. While in Detroit they returned the favor and help me load up an 8' bed for my plow truck build.

Sunday, I drove three hours to the other side of the state for a cab for the plow truck, only to have the seller text me 10 minutes before arriving at his place that he couldn't find the title. Mind you at 9am when I got on the road, he said he had it. The 150 miles later he didn't. And yes, I know there are work arounds for that, but I just went through all that with a SxS this spring. Got enough static from my lovely bride, that it just isn't worth the hassle. So, I came home empty handed.

Then yesterday I hauled a 1989 SCSB 2WD Silverado out of Flint.

Kinda of a bad deal I wish I wasn't involved in. My wife's right hand at work owns the truck. Lovely lady stuck in a tough spot. This truck had belonged to her husband. He left her for another lady. Took her car. She knew he was drinking and driving. Signed her car over to him, in return for this truck.

He filed for divorce, life moved on. Truck just sat sinking into the ground. Then he has a motorcycle accident three months before the divorce is final. Busted his head open on a curb. He's alive, but he'll never regain consciousness. The courts halt the divorce. She has to remain married to him so someone can make decisions for him.

She's struggling with still being married to him, not able to move on etc etc. That lovely bride of mine offers to help by at least getting this junk hauled out of her driveway, get it running and sold. So on a sunny Monday, I leave work at half day to go get it.

When I get there, she informs me the keys he gave her for it don't fit it.

Now I'm pissed. At him. Pretty obvious he was just trying to keep it tucked away here, in her way. He always said he was going to restore it blah blah blah. Just stringing her along.

Screw it. I pop the steering wheel off, get the lock tumbler out of it toss a battery and some gas in it and away we go.

He'll never wake up to know his shit is gone, but whatever. His shit is gone.

Well, except for the dog he left living in the back yard. But that's another story.

(Sorry for the long post, LOL.)

So THATS what you were doing with that blue truck. Looks like body mounts have failed on back of cab, or is the frame shot?

Being its a RC/SB, theres a market for it, running or not.

Yes, the rest of the story.

Definitely a mismatch in the body lines. I took a quick peek at the cab mounts, and they do appear to have caved in. Oddly enough, they're not totally gone. The frame "looks" okay.

It did start with needle nose pliers in place of the ignition tumbler. Tossed a couple gallons of gas in it, it drove up on the trailer. Drove off when I got it home.

I thought the same thing. Might get her a couple bucks out of it. New tumbler with keys was $32, I'll put a salvage yard battery in it $40. Post it to the FB MP, best offer. See what happens.

He worked asbestos reclamation in Detroit. Bed of the truck was loaded with scrap copper plumbing and heat exchangers. Not small 1/2" copper, like 3 and 4 " copper. I'll sell that to the local recyclers. Should cover the battery and lock tumbler. Maybe.

She was going to just call a scrap yard to haul it away, but they wanted to take her fence down to get it out of there yada yada blah blah blah.

My wife loves her and is pretty heart sick for her, so..................... here we are.

Shockingly enough, the odometer reads 425,000 miles. I find that very hard to believe given the condition. I mean it definitely is VERY rough, but its kind of all there. But he lived in Flint and worked in Detroit, so I guess it's possible.

The engine compartment is complete as it would have been from the factory. Engine doesn't smoke and seems to run on all 8. A/c compressor clutch is pretty unhappy.

The interior is complete. Seat foam is pretty weak, but it isn't blown out. Passenger door handle is missing, only opens from the outside. Both doors are missing their pulls.

Windshield is leaking pretty bad. I suspect a rust hole at the upper left corner. Pretty sure that didn't help the driver side floor / rocker. Windshield is cracked.

Bed isn't original, it was red at some point.

It did begin leaking brake fluid once parked at my place, so the lines are gone. Fuel lines can't be far behind.

It could be saved, but it would take A LOT of work.

Fender / rockers / probably cab corners / cab mounts / bed is giving up the fight over the wheel wells. Rear bumper is rusted through at the ball mount area. Front bumper is pushed in on the left side; I actually think that could be pulled back out.

But at some point, in its life someone loved it. Color matched hard tonneau cover / bug deflector / mirrors (well one now) / those taillight covers color matched. Color matched chin spoiler (broken now). Sony stereo with (4) 6x9s behind the seat.

Could have knocked me over with a feather, but I recycled that copper today.

$453.00

So $36 for the ignition, $65 for the battery (rebuilt).

Put $400 in her pocket before even selling the baby blue beast.

I posted this up yesterday evening after installing the new lock cylinder. I have never posted anything that blew up like this. Folks climbing all over themselves. Must have listed it too cheap.

Parked the semi tonight, did walk around, saw nothing wrong, go inside, come back out there's a large puddle of coolant under the truck.
Found this

Seams the steam leak no one could find became obvious.

Truck is down, see how long it takes AIM to replace a coolant hose.. they have a "spare truck" but can't get it till after 0700, vs normal 0500 start time and all the ELD paper bullshit.
Had a solid 12hr day all OT laid out..😑
Plus they have 2 of 5 our lease trucks in the shop, this'll make 3 of 5

Boss was like, think it make it to AIM?... Uh NO!

Go in at 5, get paid for 2hrs sitting around.

I went to HS boys basketball semifinal game today at Breslin. PW (my adopted towns from my route) won, 63-37. They play in the State Finals on Saturday.
