Not quite sure where to put this at. I see a few guys on here that have played with the ls motors on here. My ol man decided to drill out his manifold and went in the water jacket, on top of that the easy out broke in there. Sure is pretty bummed I'm looking at just purchasing new heads. What are some options? I've looked around with trick flow. Any opinions would be much appreciated thanks.

I have a set of trick Flow 220's on my 402 CI LY6 (6.0 LQ4 with factory LS3 heads) on my race truck, were right at 2k for them with springs and good valves, mine are based off of the 816 casting.

Honestly though, if he's not after power, a set of stock heads with some valve springs will do fine. there are plenty of different stock LS heads you can choose from.

He's still a hot rodder haha. Was hoping you would see this, I was looking at trick flow 205 heads. 58cc chambers springs valves all complete. A little bump in power will have him smiling ear to ear. Any opinions to those would be great. Also I forgot to mention they will be going on his 02 Silverado half ton 5.3

To be honest im still learning the LS game, I had my engine builder spec the heads out as well as read a lot on the forums. the General consensus was the box stock 220's were damn good for boost. My engine is a 9.6:1 but built for 20psi so the headwork was a bit different but any of the box stock trick flow heads are a step up from factory.

I have a set of the 2011 Camaro 6.2 heads, but I don't think the intake will interchange.

I don't think the 6.2 heads will work on a 5.3 because of the larger valves interfering with the smaller bore.

Moved over into the "things with spark plugs" area. Ive thought strongly of selling all my Dmax parts and putting a 5.3 in the little truck. Bought a 99 Silvy on the route for $400. Frame broke but drivetrain is perfect.

If your looking for a hp bump in an 02 5.3 the trick flow gen x 205 heads would be the way to go for heads if its in your budget. if you going to do the heads tho might as well add a cam to take advantage of those nice heads. 210/216 cam or a 212/218 cam would be a nice addition to the heads and have a real nice power increase.

And no ls3 heads won't work in a 4.8/5.3 too small of a bore for the valves that are in those heads. If your on a budget find some 243/799 heads and have the milled .040 they out flow the stock 02 5.3 heads and milling the .040 will add some compression not as much as the Tfs 205 heads will add tho.

Hope this helps some!

Sorry guys for not getting back right away. The truck will be all stock. Only reason for the heads is a nice little bump in power. Lots of good info I will check into the other brands mentioned. We were also planning to throw a cam in it just because the truck will be down for swapping another motor into it.

Just run stock heads if keeping bottom end stock. Upgrade springs and roll with it if NA. A cam will help, look at Brian Tooley, texas speed and Lil Jon racing, all have great cams available. You will need to call them and discuss your goals to get what will full fill expectations. I'm still on the fence with mine, im leaning towards Brian Tooley bc he has great FI ls cams. What injectors and fuel system you planning on?

6.2 heads have rectangle ports anyways 4.8 5.3 are cathedral. Would have to run a different intake or get adapter plates.

Like I said before ls3 heads or 6.2 head so you know won't work the valves are to big for the bore need a 4in minimum bore for them.

Back to the OP I personally would do the the trick flow 205 heads with a 212/218 cam or if you want more aggressive a 221/223 on a 108lsa like I had in my 5.3 would work great with the heads.
