I have been fighting a check engine light for a while now. It is P2565. I have replaced the sensor and I have done the TC relearn with a tech 2 and I still get this error. I traced the wires and they appear to be okay. When monitoring data the sensor and desired vane position seem to be inline. Everything seems to check out. What does "Passed MIL Requested" mean in the Tech 2? EFI Live lists this as a current, not a permanent code.

What do you get if you leave the sensor unplugged? Clear the code and run the engine to see what codes you get. If it's low voltage or missing, etc then your harness is likely ok. If it still gives you the same code then you got a short somewhere. It's possible the new sensor is bad right out of the box. Got to rule that out

With the sensor unplugged I get P2564. According to the diagnostics the engine needs to be running for this code to set but if I clear the codes and just do key on, engine off the code comes back immediately. The sensor tracks with the desired vane position so it seems to be fine. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with this ECM because there's another code, P700 that behaves the same way. There are no codes in the TCM yet this code keeps coming back.

With the engine off, key on, sensors unplugged, you are very likely to get a code. The ECM gets power and turns on any time the key is on, and does the circuit checks, thus a code.

Right, but according to the document you sent earlier, the first condition for the code is "The engine has been running for more than 3 seconds". I get P2565 immediately after turning the key, without the engine running.

These service advisories are written by others, and they're not perfect. I'm sorry if you don't like the information I provide. Just don't pay any attention if it is no use to you.

I didn't mean anything like that. I was just reporting what I was seeing to see if it made sense.
