I usually just use a little brake parts cleaner and a blower, but if that doesn't do it, I'll use a nylon bottle brush to loosen up the tough stuff.

I couldnt run a brush in the bores with the heads still on. A lot of that junk is going into the cylinder. I have a rig that blocks the injector tip hole in the head and I use brake clean and air until they are clean.

Do you have a picture of the rig that blocks the hole?

I just use a long tip blow gun and start with it down in the bottom of the bore so the air is blowing out of the bore instead of down into it.
