HVAC blowing hot on one side and cold on the other with a twist

Last week, when I got my truck started after finding the battery stone dead and getting it changed, letting it run, it ended up blowing hot out of the drivers side vents and cold out of the passenger side, with both sides set to '60*'. Figure it's likely the common issue of a bad blend door actuator. Here's the kicker: when I went out yesterday to get rid of a bunch of old oil, it was then blowing hot on the passenger side and cold on the drivers side.

Like I said, I know the blend door actuators failing is a common issue, and it's not hard to believe I have at least one bad, but the way the problem is flip-flopping between the sides, with only one side or the other blowing hot, not both at the same time ever that I've experienced so far, is odd.

Has anyone had this kind of behavior, or am I just lucky to have multiple failing actuators that by some random fluke never seem to 'not function' at the same time?

I have not had this issue yet, but have you tried disconnecting your batteries for 5 / 10 mins again and see what happens. Back in the day one of my drivers seat functions did not work and I went through all the connections to try and troubleshoot. everything seemed to be ok. So I disconnected the batteries for a couple of mins and when I connected them back everything worked. Still works today.

If I remember correctly, the HVAC system goes through a process after you connect the batteries. But this is if you have the dual "digital" controls.

Resetting the actuators with a Tech 2 does it too :)

I have a feeling it's just that both are going bad and I'm just lucky in that they're flaking out at opposite times somehow.

I did get lucky and found that the PS actuator is semi-reachable if you pull out the left passenger side vent, and after a bunch of resets, it finally started blowing cold. sO I reached in there and unplugged the actuator - no more blowing hot lol!
