The l5p alternator won't work on an lbz or older. Up to the lbz gm used the 4 pin regulator, lmm+ went to the 2 pin regulator that works with the charge control module.

Had one on my lmm, it didn’t put out much amperage at idle. At times the low charge light would come on. There are better options out there

They’re rated at 150 amps at idle, which is more than stock on the LBZ. Maybe you got a bad one.
