Good luck I still have not gotten a number for these.I have a extra one I could measure. The ones that we use in are heads kinda look like the ones on the rear main, its not solid it can spring close some,They try giving you solid ones that are way to big.

That doesnt sound good for me....the said the dowls are solid now
Ill find out tommorow i guess

Illl post up the PN/ and see if they match with Guys

So the rear cover dowls are not the same ones we use on the heads:confused:

The rear cover dowels are the same diameter only shorter, I wouldn't use them for the heads or vice versa.

Hole in the heads = 0.582 x 0.254" tall

Hole in block = 0.582 x 0.146" tall ,

Total lenght = 0.400 + Gasket

Dowls I have are ( i think for ) rear cover ?

Rear cover dowl pin 0.555 compressed OD 0.569 uncompressed OD x 0.356 tall

Simon, I just looked at my parts, and my head alignment dowels appear to be the exact same as the flywheel housing dowels.

Simon, I just looked at my parts, and my head alignment dowels appear to be the exact same as the flywheel housing dowels.

Looked at a lb7 locator pin for the heads and one for the rear cover
they are different.....They have a slanted angle and are longer and a little thinner for the heads.

Twice now GM has given me PN# that guy posted and They are not correct. But is the correct number but they dont fit. There is something about discontinued stuff:confused::confused: Also it is a different PN# for the rear cover dowls

Maybe LBZ are different?

If you have them Russ,Hold onto them:D

Im going to have some built from a machine shop.

The trouble is, the GM parts info is really unclear on these little buggers, so we took our best guess. :(
