i had an 01 cummins and it had THE WORST "limited slip" ever. I have never had a better lim. slip than the one in my Chev.

yeah mine rear end does this to only when i'm done beating on it

Every time I have looked on their sire it doesn't show it. Even though you see a chevy Dually in the add that says it's the tru trac. And I have seen ads for it in the 11.5 AAM also but the site never seems to show there is one. At least not the last time I looked.
Well, got a deal on one from my buddy at the dealer so in it went.
These rear ends are fairly easy to work on vs the 1/2 ton 10 bolts, no shims to worry about.
When i get back to work i'll have to find a stronger limited slip.
Im trying to get up a pic of the broken one, the small toothed gear broke in 2 places.

Depending on whats broken... could be good for ever or it could lock up on you when you least expect it.
I wouldn't take my chances with it for too long though because its likely that whatever is broken will get kicked up into the gears sooner or later and cause catastrophic failure. The rear end could lock up on you and send you sliding sideways into oncoming traffic.
What would be really easy is to take off the cover and inspect. Then you'll know the real deal. You can pretty much see everything when you take off the cover.
