I thought it might be cool to share what our favorite tools are. Do you have something that makes working on your truck a lot easier or a special tool that you couldn't live without? Here's my favorite. It's a nice little compact cordless impact. The thing I like about it is it's so small, but it has some balls. I just got done using it to pull the converter bolts in an Allison.

No need to post mine because it's the same as yours josh. I finally wore mine out last week. I just bought another so if one needs to fixed I'm not without it. It's amazing the power they have.

Agreed. Cordless impact is by far the must have. I couldn't justify the Snap-On since I don't use it on a daily basis, but anyone that works on vehicles should have some sort of 3/8" unit

Found it on craigslist shortly after the I purchased my Dmax and in real good shape considering the age, my other smaller Hein Werner was not quite up to the task.

I switched from the Milwaukee 1/2 cordless (18v) to the Snap-on because the Milwaukee's weren't lasting. I will never look back. Both the 1/2" and 3/8" have more torque and hit faster than anything else I tried, including the IR's.

I don't know if I have a favorite anymore, but I know that the custom slide hammer Evan and I made to pull stuck injectors has saved a bunch of headache and damage. I've since bought the complete snap on puller cabinet and a bunch more drivers and pullers that all make jobs go easier, but the feeling of relief when you make a tool for a specific job and it works great is unbeatable. I made a puller and holding fixture for the 11.5AAM yokes too that has saved a bunch of time and money.

...the Tech 2 that I bought a few weeks ago. It has literally already paid for itself. :)

Before that, my cheapie old 18v cordless rattlegun and drill from Menards. Damn things have yet to let me down after 5 years and Ive beaten the hell out of them. Cant ask for more than that.

I have something like that too. I made mine so it screws onto the fuel line fitting and hooks up to a 5 lb slide hammer. Most come out with just two or three hits, but I've had a couple that took a lot of beating to get them out.

Well I can't work on my truck directly with it, but this is by far the most versital piece of equipment. It's nice to make a tool or fixture real fast and in one setup. Not to mention it will run out production parts too:D

and a magic wand. hopefully it makes my problem go away..:D:D

lol. But seriously. My favorite tools that I use are my tech 2, MDI, v2 and my bench harnesses.

I also made one of my garages florescent lights mount under the hood of our trucks so I dont have to have a flashlight in my mouth trying to do something :roflmao:. and I also have a couple of stream lights...lol

and a good area to service trucks at..

Mine is my stream light. If I don't have that I feel useless. Other lights just aren't the same. A close second are my 1/4 cordless matco impact and ratchet. uploadfromtaptalk1437602091750.jpguploadfromtaptalk1437602100665.JPG

This isn't really a tool, but it is a very important piece of equipment for doing transmission rebuilds. It is a cooler flushing machine that gets out all the crap that goes into a cooler when a transmission fails. Here's a short video of it in action with a brief description of how it works and a picture of what came out of it on the first flush.

This is a good thread! I love the kent moore injector pullers and return line kits for when I'm doing that stuff but for broad range of work my snappy stuff keeps me from going crazy. The CTR761A 3/8 lithium ratchet and CT8810 3/8 cordless impact see so much use they look 20 years old even with boots.

Working on 95% stock duramax trucks for a living is different is pretty boring but I get to see all the new stuff when it trickles down to the dealers. Excited to see the new colorado and 16 silvys
