Hey, all. New to the group and hoping there are people on here with some Duramax technical experience who can answer my question.
Backstory: LBZ Duramax. Loss off power and excessive smoke. It’s has been determined by me and 2 separate shops that it is a boost leak. The problem is where it is leaking. The EGR valve. There appears to be what I have determined as a vent port on the bottom. I have attached a picture for reference. I have now replaced the EGR 3 separate times, first and third time with OEM. Second with aftermarket. All 3 times a major boost leak from the port on the underside of the EGR. Right now my temporary solution is block off plates at the EGR but this is not permanent as I live in an emissions county.
My question is: Is this normal for LBZ EGR valves? If so what is the normal operation of the port on the bottom? 2 independent shops and the dealer have told me this is not normal, but they keep just wanting to throw new Egr valves at it. Has anyone had a similar experience? I’ve looked through a few forums and YouTube videos, but not much info on this particular EGR leak.
To add, I have tried various combinations of Egr valves and coolers both OEM and after market. As well as an after market and factory tune. Exhaust is PPE manifolds, up pipes and down pipe to a 4” exhaust with a cat.
