With 4wd, you either have to adapt the early transfercase to the transmission or use the new transfercase & swap the front axle for one with a dr. side differential.

On a 2wd, you just have to deal with the rear drive shaft.

Will the Allison fit under the body or does the body need to be modified? (firewall/floorboards) Maybe a small body lift? If I remember right, the PPE truck had to be modified for the trans to fit.

I'd like to keep the pass. side t-case and front axle, any suggestions on a transmission?

To keep pass drop there's a few options:

- Nv4500 manual with a pass drop np205
- 4l85e with adaptor to run pass drop np205
- Allison with billet tailhousing from suncoast setup to mount any pass drop xcase you desire
- allison with an atlas xcase mated to it

There's probably more but those might be easiest. Wouldn't do big 4wd boosted launches or much sled pulling with an np205 n 14b in it. Both have been tested behind substantial diesel and neither are totally up to it with much success over time.

Member pussow at DP is using a 205 right hand drop behind an ALLISON in his 87 conversion. He made a custom spacer that chaged the drop a little and got it to clear he said.
