I know this thread is a little old but I would like to add some info about the M/T 33x10.5x16W tire. That tire was designed for Outlaw 10.5 racing which is popular in the South, Northeast, & Midwest. We run that tire on a 16x15 beadlock rim with tubes. Our best pass in the 1/4 to date is a 6.71 @ 220 mph and a 4.44 @ 177 mph in the 1/8. Search Outlaw 10.5 if you are curious and check out the most exciting heads up racing.

here is a pic of the rear calibers with a 15" rim.. there is rubbing and not enough clearance to run wheel weights in side... doable yes. recomended no!

not when M&H and MT had desent size slicks for 16" rims and a lot of options are the 33" dia and 17.5" wide

might have to get a custom wide rim since most only go to 12" wide

hoosier tire have assorted slicks on a 16 as well

How about these Hoosier Pro Streets:
Tires

They seem to be the perfect size but the weight on them is scary on our trucks.

My girlfriend said she's getting me drag radials for my birthday and rims if the ones on my Bronco II won't work. How much do just your rims weigh on Casper. How much do PYOs weigh? I'm gonna take my spare Bronco tire and break it down the weigh the rim but want something to compare it to.

I found this post of Pat's hope it helps :D
MH race tire 275/55-16 = 27lb
OEM Steel Wheel, SRW = 35lb
OEM Alum Wheel = 17lb
OEM 245 tire = 40lb
OEM 265 tire (SRW) = 47lb

The MH tire seems to fit well on either the alum or steel factory wheel and weighs 44lb on the alum wheel, which about 1/2 the weight of the factory SRW combo, or 13lb less than OEM 245 combo.

Another question since Malibu showed pics of calipers rubbed by 15s. Will 15s fit on the front like that too. That looks like you could grind a little off the calipers and run 15s. Guys with Camaros do it to run 15s on the rear. That would open up a whole world of tires to us.

the down side to that is you have to run shallow backspacing..
i clearance ~.015 off lawrences calibers. just enouhg so they would trade paint marks..

there is not enough room to run stick on wheel wieghts.

shallow backspacing mean little turning of the front tires depending on how wide the tire is.

majoirty of the 15" rim slicks are 25-28" tall were we are running 30-33" tall. the 6 speed alli could get away with running the shorter tires. dont think the 5speed guys have enough gear for the 1/4 with said short tires

There are all of these sizes of Drag Radial tires for 15" rims just from Summit Racing:
295/65-15
30.00 x 10.50-15
30.00 x 9.00-15
31.25 x 12.20-15
31.50 x 13.50-15
315/60-15
32.00 x 13.50-15
32.00 x 14.00-15
32.00 x 14.50-15
33.00 x 14.50-15

Being able to find 15", 8 lug, lightweight rims and make them fit our trucks would be awesome. I don't care what kind of weights I have to use or if I have to grind calipers.

I was looking into the US Wheels and Cragars and was going to call and get a weight on them. If they are under 20 lbs they'd be awesome and hopefully since they are thinner (metal thickness) they would clear better than aluminum 15s. I talked the girlfriend into something else for my birthday now though - a "cat" is going back on the truck - only this one will make it faster........ tires will wait.

my grandfather has told me there is a company that you can get wheel outers and inners seperatly, then weld them together to make what ever combo wheel you want. i havent found them online anywhere, but i can try to get the name if you want.
