Sorry for asking such a dumb out of place question here on DuramaxDiesel.com, but this has been bothering me for some time and none of the dodge guys can give me a straight answer!

When they talk about 9-12-14-16 cm housings, what the hell are they talking about, What on the housing is XXcm in reference to? Best answer i got so far is its the area of the opening to the turbing wheel so that would make it cm2 right? In this case the housing should still also have a AR?

Someone please explain this for me as the dodge sites have been no help!!!

Thanx
Caleb

As far as I can tell, they are referring to the diameter of turbine snail, measured sideways. 14cm is 5.5", and the biggest chargers we use have wheels that are perhaps 5.25" (GT55). A 14cm hsg goes on a wheel about 3.5" wheel (GT40/HTT66).

We normally use A/R ratio and turbine wheel OD to define the exhaust side. The higher the A/R, the bigger the snail.
