News is getting out about the sinkhole that opened up under the National Corvette Museum this morning, swallowing 8 vettes:

It definitely makes me sick after reading what cars fell in to the sink hole. I read it got a 1994 ZR1 Spyder, Blue Devil ZR1, 1,000,000 and 1,500,000 Vettes, 2001 Ryan Mallet Z06 (SN 009), and a few other rare Vettes. It just missed swallowing the 1983 Corvette Concept also.

Totally sucks but sinkholes are not uncommon in that area of the state. Anyone heard of mammoth cave or lost river cave? :D lots of karst topography around.

in the press conference he said they can recover and rebuild all of the cars, i guess when you have an unlimited "insurence" budget and all of GM backing you up you do whatever it takes to restore a bunch of 1/1 cars like those

I live about an hour from Bowlingreen, KY where the Museum is, been there countless times, love it, soooo sad this happened but In this area it's bound to happen, so many caves, like Mammoth Cave and a shit ton of coal mining, hard to believe it had to happen in the exact spot, goes to show you, you never really know what can happen.
