I just bought a 2013 Audi A4 2.0t with 90k miles, clean car, bought it from some shit bag "shop" south of Pittsburgh, has a bunch of new parts but it has minimal heat and a rod knocking and burning oil something fierce.

Kind of curious whether to build an engine and what parts to use in it or where is a reliable salvage place to order a motor from, I'd imagine this motor that's in it isn't worth the machine work let alone parts.

No Audi but I do drive a TDI

The TFSI engines are generally pretty good if you keep on the maintenance and oil changes

The knocking might be just the camshaft chain tensioner being worn out. Common problem for that knocking noise on that engine from what I read

It has a new ECS timing set, pcv, CTS turbo, aux water pump. Has a ton of blowby, definitely a rod knocking, no mistake, you'd never know it unless you rev it in park, it's the excessive oil burning at all times that's a dead giveaway, it's bad, doesn't smoke a lot but God, you can smell oil burning non stop. Plus once you stay in it with some boost for a minute, heats gone, tells me it's got some head issue too.

Might not be worth it unless you can source a cheap replacement engine to drop in. Repair will probably cost more I'm guessing

Motors are between 2,500 and 3,800 depending on where you go, timing and rear main will need done, that's 680ish, plus labor to swap it unless I do it, I may just do it but still on the fence about it, it's the holidays,

Come to think about it, I've had the motor out of everything I own and I bought it all relatively new, guess the Audi was just a sign to get it out of the way and be done lol. My wife still is not impressed with the GMC's valve body situation, she like you just had to touch it, I said well it was gonna go now or when you were 100 miles from the house somewhere
