I believe my starter went bad the other night chasing an ongoing issue. I was cranking to test injector return rates. On my 2nd 5 second crank, truck stopped cranking and just clicked from the solenoid. I replaced the starter, cleaned all grounds. Now the truck won't crank with the key. But if I leave it on key on and remove the #5 relay it cranks on its own.

Try disconnecting the batteries first for a minute. See if that resolves it. You might have ran the batteries low and caused the ECM to freak out

I had the batteries hooked to a charger the whole time, if anything i drained them while it cranked . I'll recharge and disconnect them later. This trucks been kicking my ass.
