I have been dropping rail pressure about 4000 psi under commanded on a 230 HP max effort tune, I decided to get a video of my pressure gauge after my ADII165 to see if it was keeping fuel pressure up. What do you guys think is this normal for the presure to drop like this or should the AD be able to keep the pressure up?

your air dog is working perfectly fine, its not the issue for your low rail pressure

I know it is not the issue, it is probably a weak CP3. I was just verifying that the airdog was doing what it was supposed to. I just thought the airdog was supposed to adjust to demand and keep a steady pressure.

You can actually see it adjusting on demand in the video. It's not like it can predict the demand. As above it's working just like it's supposed to.

Pump is working fine. Might need tuning dialed back as the cp3 cannot keep up if its on maxed out tunes. If you don't want to dial it back you can always get a bigger cp3 pump. This is all going off from your current cp3 and injectors are healthy and not sending too much fuel back to the tank.

Ok, I just thought it would keep the pressure up better. That is a 13.2 second run at the strip and it drops to about 6 psi almost the whole run.

Turn your pump up some more, they are preset at 8 to 10 psi from the factory but the LMM can handle quite a bit more than that before it starts to lope. I ran mine almost wide open, just turned it back half a turn. They really like the added fuel pressure, it won't fix your rail pressure issue but it will help if it's getting low flow now...

How high is your pressure? I turned it up to about 15psi after I took the video.

Mine was well over 20 psi for 4 years. Never had any issues and my pump was a freak, it would see over 30,000 and hold 26,000 in my huge tune...

Mine is calling for 26,100 psi and dropping to about 22,000 psi on a WOT run, this is on a 230hp max effort tune.

I see the same. I've been told it's normal as the cp3 puts out max psi at 3-3300rpm, your closer to 4000, like me, so it starts to drop. Only way to fix it is a bigger cp3 or duel fuelers.

How do you know he's turning close to 4000rpms, that's way more than is necessary on a stock turbo.

My old 2006 with tuning by Dustin at diesel addiction wold
Command 26,700psi and drop to 20/21k wot. It would trip the p0087 code and still run a 13.04@105mph. I was told the 06+ cp3's don't need to see all that much of a variation in rail pressure dropping to throw that code. My s472'd Lly on the other hand would command 23,700-24k and get 21-22k with the s472 on stock injectors and Lbz cp3. Never threw any codes. I also have been told the Lbz cp3 trucks can pull down to low 20k of fuel rail and still make power. But I've heard a lot of crazy things. I am assuming it's normal for a 3-4k drop on that big of a tune with stock fuel system other than a liftpump.
