My truck came factory with a 150A alternator (KG4), I recently got around to installing the GM 220A alternator and decided to keep the 150A alternator on there as well. Dual Alternator trucks are setup with the 220A primary and the 150A in the secondary location. Here are the part numbers I used:
220A Alternator (KW5)
84143541 - 220A Alt
84460792 - BLOCK ASM-BAT DISTRIBUTION ENG COMPT FUSE (Passenger side battery fuse box for 220A Alt)
23481289 - STRAP ASM-BAT NEG (Driver side engine to cab ground cable 220A Alt)
Dual Alternator (KHB)
84143543 - 150A Alt
97356246 - BRACKET-GEN
11588751 - 3x Bolts
12728996 - Dual ALT Idler Pulley
12645694 - Dual ALT Belt
84348533 - Battery Cable with fuse for 2nd Alt
23420887 - COVER-GEN WIRE TERM (plastic cover for the nut and stud of the 2nd Alt)
Not sure of the part number for the Alt terminal nut but it is M8 - 1.25
The Idler Pulley as well as the bracket and alternator bolts all get torqued to 43 ft/lbs.
For the trigger wire I didn't want to splice into the factory harness so I bought a harness for 2 pin alternators from ICT Billet. While putting the list of parts together the biggest thing that threw me for a loop was the cable from the second Alt to the driver side battery. I didn't know where the fuse was or supposed to go before realizing its part of the factory cable.
I have the new ground cable on the passenger side as my aftermarket up-pipe is going to have to come off to get to the bolt that the grounding strap attaches to. The stock ones might have more room I'm not sure.
