Does anyone happen to know what type of connector the X1-X4 connectors the ECC control module on a 2015 Malibu, among others, is, and what kind of tool is required to de-pin the connector? I've exhausted my resources and cannot find any details on these connectors, and haven't been able to remove any pins from these connectors.

It's been a while since I messed with that type of connector. Don't you have to pull the tab on the side out to release the pins?

I usually use AllData for the connector and pin types.
Yeah, I have that set. Not a single one works lol.

I can't seem to find the info in Alldata. I also looked in Chiltons, and where there should be a connector end view, I get a blank page and a message saying 'No Article found on the option you chosen.'

I bought a huge cheap set of extractors years ago from Amazon, and I’ve always found one of them works, lol. I can’t find my set on there, but this looks the same:

Terminal Pin Removal Tool Kit 82 Pcs Depinning Electrical Connector Pin Extractor Tool Set Wire Terminal Release for Automotive Car Household Devices

That's actually the exact set I have, case and all, but I haven't found one that wants to work yet lol.

I've had good luck with sowing needles too
*sewing... lol. 😛

Tried paper clips, every possible option in the 'kit', nothing seems to work... The T87 and E80/E92A were similar, in that I couldn't find anything to 'properly' release them, but with those, I ended up removing the lower retainer that you're 'not supposed to remove (lol)' and that gave full access to the locking mechanism, and also just allowed me to pull the wires straight through lol.

Well, there ya go.

I found that I have to see the pin Im working on outside the connector in order to figure out which tool to use. No, not ideal.

That connector does remind me of the mid-late '80s new-style radio connectors in Oldsmobiles, though.

Yeah, it does seem 'old schoolish' lol. If I knew exactly what I was working with with regards to how it's locked in, that would help, but this one is uber stubborn lol.
