I'm in need for a high stall converter for this pulling season. Any reason one is better than the other?

I've heard of some interesting things coming from Diesel Performance Converters (Phil Taylor) recently...might want to give him a call.

I went on the diesel performance converters website to check it out. There's really not much info on it. Ill have to call and see what they have.
I have found that most of the time, the best info is not found on websites. websites just focus your search for information
I have run both the 1055 and the precision. I got rid of the 1055 for the sled puller. The sled puller will stall higher but seems to be hit and miss on the lockups. Never had that issue with the 1055. I would look into the 1053 also from suncoast as its looser that the 1055.
I really like the precision and it does what I want. I think suncoast makes a better converter but their customer service and price of repairs suck ass! These loose converters will have to be refreshed often and when it costs 400.00 at suncoast compared to 150.00 at precision it makes the choice a little easier.

I've run a 1055 and now a 1053 on my 2.6. 1053 all the way between those.

So travis are you saying you like the 1055 better or the sled puller? i understand the cost in all but your saying the lock up is hit and miss???

X2 on Diesel Performance Converters. Talk to David (DTS) about them, I'm pretty sure they are the only converters he uses... just my .02 :thumb:
I believe camomax runs one of there converters ( DTS, Diesel performance converters) I know Matt loves that converter. Says its by far the best one hes ran yet.
I'm not a sled puller but I run the 1054 and there is not hit or miss with that thing. It's like a kick in the ass when it locks. :thumb:
I loved the 1055 converter. But I had reached a point in turbo size that I needed more stall that what I could get out of it. At the time the precision sledpuller was the only converter that would stall higher than the 1055 other than custom ATS units. I dont like ATS trans parts so I went with the Precision.
I like both of the converters. It all comes down to what size turbo you want to run.
The downside to really loose converters is that when stalling on the line the input and output speeds are so far apart that when you come out of the hole the turbine cant catch up with the impeller and the tcm wont request lock up.
You can use a lockup controller to fix this but the really loose converters tend to have a shorter lifespan in general.
gotcha thanks what stall were you running on that 55 and what turbo? Should be the last question!!
The 55 only has one stall option and it 2600 I believe.

Yeah i have no clue on what converter i want. But i have heard good from suncoast, dieselperformance converters and prescision.
Lockup shouldn't be a problem for me because I'll be running another one of Bens lockup controllers on my puller. Unless the TTC tends to burn out quicker from locking up with greater Input and output rpm differential.
