06 tap shifter in <05 truck

I installed an Allison 06+ tap shift lever in my truck (19431842) The shifter sits about 2 in. lower than the old shifter arm blocking the view to the display when in Park. I wonder if this is the case on all 06 Allison trucks as well, if not what is different? The steering column shift mechanism seems to be the same, at least I find no hint of them being different.
Anyone have an idea or a fix?

The 5 speeds have one more detent than the 6 speeds and that’s why it goes lower. Aftermarket tap shift levers come with a different bend in them to fix that problem.
