January '25 Chat -- Happy New Year!!!

Kory? Never heard of her... :p LOL. Good to see you back around these parts. Things have slowed down a little from the old days, but there's still a good group of guys here with good info to discuss. Always happy to have another one.

    Oil prime

All I know is I see two distinct spots where there are signs of the flex plate being heated, and I don't see how either could be the result of the cracks. I'm not a metallurgist or failure inspector, but I would think the heating would follow the crack (meaning the crack would be centered on...

    Oil prime

I think James is on the right track. I bet your former mechanic heated the bolts with a torch and got a little wild with the flame.

January '25 Chat -- Happy New Year!!!

We got nothing here. There were some flurries earlier this morning, but it isn't cold enough for it to stick once it hits the ground.

    Chevy1925 (James) Truck/motor build

I recommend the aluminum fittings from the Dmax Store if you haven't already installed the Dorman parts. I like their design better, and I never really liked the weight of the Dorman fittings. It always made me a little concerned about damaging the heater core. I'm sure it was worry over...

    LMM: Lmm dsp5

As previously stated, you cannot load one of these tunes with an AutoCal unless the tuner your device is linked to sets it up for you. Also, serial switching is only available for LB7/LLY trucks. LBZ and LMM need a hardwired switch.

Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

Oh, my bad! lol I used a couple of different snap on scan tools. They have their plusses and minuses, but they have generally worked well for me.

I don't think the light on the dash illuminates until the cruise is set, but I believe the orange LED in the switch illuminates whenever the button is depressed.

    Group 31 driver's side Batt

They make batteries with both top and side posts. What is the reason you are wanting to get rid of the factory cables? DIY and most aftermarket cables are not very good quality. I see more issues with people trying to hack cables to change ends than I see with factory side post cables.

Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

I know I'm late to the discussion here, but the way I understand the operation, the cruise control indicator light on the switch should turn on when the button is pressed no matter what inhibit cause is present. The switch and indicator are both dumb. I'll post the diagram from...

Air in fuel, vacuum side is NOT leaking. Advice?

That is incorrect. They will not hold pressure overnight, but as I suggested earlier, if you make the engine a closed system by capping off both quick connect fittings, you can either pressurize or vacuum the entire system on the engine. With the two hoses coming up from the frame being...

You are in Canada where these parts are readily available. This is a US based forum, and we cannot help you delete your truck or answer any questions in that regard. Please reach out to the vendor you are buying your parts from or the local diesel shop with any questions you may have. Sorry...

    LBZ GPCM Issues

Check the power on the large gauge cable that powers the glow plug module. I believe it needs power for the GPCM to communicate.

Air in fuel, vacuum side is NOT leaking. Advice?

This made it sound like you were vacuum testing the system with the CP4 hooked up. If you are talking about losing pressure on the hand primer with the CP4 hooked up, that is 100% normal. They do not hold pressure when the system is hooked up properly because there is some internal return...

Air in fuel, vacuum side is NOT leaking. Advice?

When you vacuum test the system with the CP4 hooked up, are you blocking off the quick connect on the return hose where it goes back down to the tank?

Anybody drag race with an lbz??

It's easy to see from that time slip that your off-idle launch is why it ran so slow. Your trap speed indicates an easy 13 second time slip. Could be very deep 13s depending on how good your chassis/tire setup is and how well the transmission shifts. I would expect you to pick up a...

I wonder if it's something like vapor lock.

Anybody drag race with an lbz??

I'm going to be the one guy that goes against the grain here. That truck weighing 5600ish lbs should have no problem getting deep into the 13s with good tuning and good setup on the truck. We were doing that back in the late 00s with crew cab short bed trucks weighing 1000+ lbs more even...
