Well that’s disappointing, but at least lml salvage values are falling so plenty of trucks available for parts.

What issues did you find with the L5P block?
Few pages back it was brought up.
Lifter have issues. Oiling related or just cheap part, needle bearins seem to fall out. Never an issue before.

Biggest issues is rods starving at startup due to some geniuses CAD blunder. Unless ya know of someone else, think I'm still the only guy to ever spin rods bearings clean out of a duramax. And then weld up and reuse that same crank. Is my first post here on the PPE boat I believe. Wasn't a GM issue, was marinization mistake by that crew that starved it for oil.

How hard is it to modify them to use the traditional lifters? Is it even possible to retrofit them?

Then fix the holes in the main bearing bores and good to go..

I passed on opertunity to do one cause of those two issues. Would like to do a new 6.7L Powerstroke if anyone interested. The reverse flow heads lends itself to quicker builds and less $$ in custom marine exhaust. No up pipes to condend with.

I talked with a machine shop several years ago about boring out the lifters to use an older style lifter/retainer, but we ended up not going through with the project. There is enough material and all the mounting locations to keep them in place.

Well that made my day, now I have something to look forward to.

If these gold plated head studs purchased from Brad solve the head lifting issues, then gonna stick with LML platform.

I couldn't get anyone to come magnaflux the deck on #2. Ain't tearing it down further. It's go or blow one last time. If fails again, be pretty much certain that block has issues..
