Just want to say thanks. I have been lurking for years, finally joined tonight.

This site was very helpful in planing my Duramax Avalanche build. Basically I built her last spring. I'm back now looking up Head gasket repair:mad: gonna do the EGR deleat and PVC reroute as it goes back together.

02 2500 Avalanche + 05 2500 Silverado Duramax :woott:

he could have. I'm not the first to do this conversion. some componies would charge up to 30K to dmax suburbans, Tahoes, avalanches. seen some on ebay and the like but there are no factory built Duramax Avalanches or I would have gotten one

Another LLY into an 01-02 truck? How'd you get the electronics to talk to each other?

Pretty cool. Congrats on getting it done. :thumb:

Tom Im guessing that since he has the whole 05 truck, he swapped EVERYTHING over, effectively making the avalanche into an "03+" truck.

I'm starting to think I could have returned her to stock quicker than changing the head gaskets. I hope I remember how it goes back together. Taking some pics but looking at the part pile........

Lets see some finished pics when it gets done. Glad to see more and more Alaska members on here. What are your plans with it? Just cruising or are you going to put go fast goodies on it?

The $$$$ I have say she's gona just be a cruiser. I like to challenge myself with hard projects , thanks to the dividend she may hit the road again. I also have HPT tuners so that's next Learning curve, after the running part.

here are some pics on the day I found out about the head gaskets. You can see the coolant down the pass side.

Also a pick of my main Avalanche with over 200k on her.

And an Avalanche I rebuilt for the wife, with Carlson Gracie Jr next to it.

I was going to do a swap for a customer in Ohio. It fell through:( but in doing the research it seemed an 05-07 Avalanche was the best candidate especially one with a 6.0l. I found a 07 donor dmax in Ohio for him but he just never got back to me. Looks great, good job hope you get it dialed in. Question though, why HP over EFILive?
