Just saw this in Lapeer, it might solve your bed and door issues, not to mention is a hedge against that engine being shot.

Looks similar to Malibu795's truck... lol
How's the ring around the fuel pump look on that truck?

Eric O of SMA on YT always get's a ring and he has had some crusty pumps come in his shop up in NY.

Sold before I could get there.

Let's just say there's evidence of it once having a locking ring.

Love SMA and Eric / Mrs O. "Hey, it's that guy!"
Yep. Looks right for the north. 😂

That’s typical for here as well.
Like a freaking archeological dig, knocking rust away, looking for solid metal.

Falt-bed left the property $750 back in my pocket.

Installed the chineseium fuel pump. Fuel pressure and volume is acing correctly now.

Motor still needs spray to show any life. Made me suspect something with the injectors.

Scan tool can run balance tests; I only tested a couple just to see if there was communication. There is. Fuel pressure starts at 64, drops to 20 while injectors pulse. The (3) I tested were the same. Not sure if those values are within spec, but it does verify the communication is intact.

So now it runs on spray, so there's spark. Fuel system seems to be back in some sort of acceptable state. Clean fuel in the tank. Soooo...........?

I started removing the spark plugs. Got the left bank out before I got called away. All (4) plugs were soaking wet, with something clear that did not smell like fuel. Possible water? Not sure.

I'll pull the RH bank next, run a compression test, stick a bore scope in the holes and take a peek.

If all of that looks okay, I'll install new plugs and see what happens.

For some reason I think you enjoy this. :ROFLMAO:

I'll keep looking for another red bed. Sucks that one was gone. Ad mentioned he'd take $500 for the whole truck, too.

Sounds like its still picking up water. Pull the shrader on the fuel rail and jump the fuel pump relay and take a test sample in a water bottle. If water is still in there, keep draining it lol

Some guys hunt, some guys watch sports, some guys golf. I do ignorant shit like this. (I should be more like "some guys")

Ah, he just had the ad worded kind of deceiving. He was saying the airbags were worth 500 but asking 1800 for the truck. (Which I would have paid if the bed was usable as is.)

The results are back... It's Terminal.

You have a case of Junk Devides Us with an acute case of I can still fix that...
You also have symptoms of Just 1 More...

As long as you dont hoard too much stuff, you can still live a long happy life...

Pretty sums it up. So I’m not the only one?

Well, James gets the gold star on this one.

Thank you James.

I removed the gauge head off of my fuel pressure gauge and directed the open hose into a clear cup.

Jumped the relay and pumped probably a 1.5 gallons of fuel out before the cup no longer had water in the bottom.

Remember, I siphoned the tank empty, so to still see that much water was crazy.

I did do a compression test on (2) cylinders before I got depressed enough to stop that activity. (80psi).

Then put the plugs and in and buttoned back up.

After nearly 1/2 can of Cosby juice it was running on its own.

Running like shit, but running.

P0300 code, random misfire. Okay Captain OBVIOUS!

I usually use my infared gun to check temperatures on the exhaust side to look for cylinders not contributing. But the massive exhaust leak at the EGR, is keeping the temperature of the passenger side manifold skewed (I think).

That’s where I stopped yesterday.

At this point it could be lack of compression on any or all cylinders due to rusted / stuck rings.

Could be an injector is FUBAR because it was full of water and froze in these crazy temperatures we’ve had.

Could be one or more of the (4) spark plugs I DROPPED ON THE FLOOR have cracked or damaged insulators, causing the to mis fire.

Or a combination of all of the above.

At any rate, it runs well enough to move, so it’s not dead in the middle of the shop.

Here’s a picture of 90 minutes of yesterday. Did I mention I need my head examined?

Geezus, nice oil-in-the-water there.

Ya know, if you needed some help I could've driven over. You're only an hour away.

Cylinders 4 and 6 have the misfire code.

Injectors 2 4 & 6 fail the balance rate tests.

I will try to source replacements and see if it will run on all (8)

Eh… I’d go run the shit out of it first. It might start cleaning its self out. Weve dealt with this stuff at the shop a few times.
