Getting active again on the forums. Been a long time but ill be working on my old '05 LLY once I get this new rig setup. The LLY will end up getting its own thread as ive got some serious plans for that but until then this new truck needs to have some surgery once I get home.
Not planing on anything crazy as this is my DD and just looking to get 10-15 years out of her like my previous truck.
Already made a simple pull out bed slide from some scrap steel around the shop. Works like a charm and gave my son a chance to help out!

Disclaimer: use this at your own risk.
For those who ever wondered...
You can keep the chime from driving you nuts if you dont buckle your seat belt by unplugging this connector on your seats.
I do alot of offroad-lowspeed driving and am in and out of the truck so much.

First oil change. Added the DHD Adapter. Shout-out to Bdsankey for recommending that! Not sure how to tag him ? But anyways it Converts this stupid tiny filter back to the Ole reliable 57202 Wix/PF2232.
Also changed the fuel filter just so I know its fresh. Im a 5-7k on oil / every other fuel filter type of guy. Also go with 12qts of bulk mobil or Kendall 15/40. We have had 3 lbzs go over 500k 2 ram 6.7s over 350k 2 5.9s hit 500k and now 5 l5ps going for the 500k mark. dont ask about the other brand... you couldn't pay us to use that junk!
Next oil change ill add that kit that shifts the coolant pump so I wont worry about rubbing a hole through those lines

Use the shift button and number 2 button to get the @ symbol and then spell his username out and it will tag him like this.

@Bdsankey

That being said, I didn't know they offered that. Here is a link in case any one else is interested.

Glad you got it in! They're a great product and allows the same filter to be used 01 to current.

Brad, Do you know anything about the filters? Are the bigger filters the same micron rating?
Are you referring to the OEM filters? I honestly don't know.

I'm a huge fan of AmsOil EAO or Fram Synthetic Endurance filters as they are 20uM absolute rated due to their synthetic microglass elements. Heavy duty cans, great silicone anti-drainback valves, good seals, great element etc all make them my "go to". Plus the Fram is available for $13 at Walmart.............. hard to beat that!

In multiple cases when cut apart, an EAO and Synthetic Endurance filter are internally the same. This is based on the 3-4 different cutaways I've seen. I may order an AmsOil EAO52 (01-19 filter) and cut it apart to compare, that wouldn't be a bad little "tech segment".

I know GM has a rating on the filters. I just don't know what it is. I think it's around 20 micron absolute. PPE claims there is like 5 Micron on there MicroPureXR 6.6L filters.
Not Endorsing them, just stating what they claim.

I was just curious if the Filtration was different between the 01-19 style filter and the 2020+ filter. Obviously you have more surface area to filter the oil in the early style filters but I don't know what the rating is for either style. I don know thats the same filter they use on Gas engines so I believe the filtration could be improved for a diesel application.

A tech segment would be Awesome!!! I would Be Curious on the rating as well as the construction. I have some Wix filters for the 01-19 style I could donate 1.

I would also be happy to pitch in some $$$ towards other filters for the comparison. I think everyone of us could benefit from it.

@1FastBrick Thanks for the tip!
I like where this is going. Ive been a Napa then Wix guy for as long as I can remember. Ive personally seen Fram oil filter failures so im timid of them. Not saying their new stuff might be better but I stick to what I have experience with.
And to answer your question I believe the older style 01-19 filters had a 15psi bypass where the new one is 20 psi bypass. If memory serves me right my parts guy said the old style is around 20micron vs the pf63e is like 30ish
To my knowledge though ive read that anything under 20microns isnt worth worrying about and going for the lower micro like 5 runs the risk of being to restrictive and causing the bypass valve to just open amd not have any filtration...

@Bdsankey tuning in for the segment ?

Worst case we blow the motor and then Call Brad for more parts... :ROFLMAO:

I haven't even installed the motor I built yet and already I want to rebuild it again...

I ran Fram in the past and I wasn't impressed by their older stuff. I know times have changed as well as oil formulation.

And a Tip on purchasing WIX filters. Usually 1 or 2 times a year, Napa will have a sell on filters and it's usually 1/2 off. When I need them, I Just bite the bullet and get a case of 12 filters.

PPE is a nominal rating based on their efficiency claim. A 5uM nominal (from what I've seen) filter tends to be 15-20uM absolute so on par with say the AmsOil EAO/Fram Synthetic Endurance line.
