I actually bought the Merc 6 drives on Voodoo today from Steve a few years back. He was team lead at Miss Geico. But that little toy he just pulled out of the shed, and wrapped in sparkly green, is probably all the project boat any Team of gear heads needs to stay busy.. Another friend worked on that team when it lived in Qatar. That's One Bad Mama Jama to any speed freak. But who knows, they might want a matching support boat that drinks the same fuel..

I've floated the idea to a couple friends in the racing world. Goal remains find someone who know the project, and wants to keep it going. I could piece it out 5 times before months end if needed. Finding someone to take it all in a 23yr old, 15k lb, non-stepped, Ohio built Baja, seems to be the sticker..If was a Fountain or Outerlimits, would be a seriously fast boat today.

Here is the Apache hull I really wanted to drop all this Duramax hardware into back when we started this project. Almost identical to the current Baja hull, but laid up in Kevlar and fully bulkhead front half to take a beating in race conditions. But the single 18 minute video is one of the best examples of an average day running offshore around Florida.

When I speak of running WOT for exteneded periods, this is what an average 20 minutes at WOT looks like from the outside of a twin engine boat. Better yet, what it sounds like. Ya not only need to shake the dyno, but also load unload the brake a few dozen times per minute to get the true effect of this water enviroment..

I think it's amazing how much of a beating they'll take. What's the lifespan of a hull when raced in those conditions?
Until ya find a weak spot in the layup, cause a crack and de-laminate. There is no nice cabin with bed up front. Looks more like interior of a battleship. All structural, except for a few builds, which they left enough room for Cargo... The 41 Apache Razz in video s still running today. Restored in 2019, I'd just missed the option to buy it from same guy I purchased those custom 2 speed transmissions. It's a living legend from Thundeboat Row, and Miami Vice era. Ya can find 2 of those 80's layups racing somewhere at least once per month.

Here is the day befoe video of that run above. Much more air, and the better story line behind the hull...

Here is the only good video of Voodoo running in 3-4ft chop. Was the last run on that first set of surface drives. Beating a storm to the trailer.
No comparison to the 4-6ft off shore rollers as above, but it did get to enjoy some air time, and verify the engine mounting was solid.

This is about 1/2hr from me. I saw it and thought of this thread. Hope it's ok to post. I don't mind helping if anyone needs it picked up. I do NOT know the seller nor have any stake in this, I just never see them come up: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1129568452339645/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp:be40fde5-3a7e-497a-9b73-caf5a1a179ec
I don't know enough to argue with the post but it does say it's for a big block chevy.

I believe those log manifolds have the correct port spacing to fit a Duramax head. I know the 392 hemi log flanges can be modified to bolt up, but haven't measured the BBC set yet. The rest of those pieces all look a bit dated. 80-87 If I recall.

A guy at our marina had a Banks twin turbo jet boat back when I was in high school.. :)
