Has anyone had luck with the DIY kit from Next Gen Drivetrain? I'm in the middle of the install with a customer supplied kit on a problem-free 2021 and i'm ready to back out of it and put it back to stock due to poor quality. Learn the hard way about customer-supplied parts sometimes.

That's not good to hear... I thought the Next Gen kit was supposed to be the fix. Unfortunate to hear that there is quality issues with it.

From everyone i have talked to and still talk to, no one has a 10 speed kit worth putting in thats better than stock.

I dont like their valvebody kit that fixes the vb issue because it uses o-rings in a sliding part. Just seems like a good way to send rubber into the vb. Its a bandaid.

No personal experience, but have heard bad things about them. They are basically capitalizing on irrational fear, and they were the first to come to market with a kit.

Good to know on both accounts. I haven't Physically seen the kit.

I know it was said that the FORD uses a different valve body in there version. Are there version of the trans holding up or do they have other issues with there's?

They have not had the trans lock up downshifting into eighth gear as far as I know

Well, after talking to the Next Gen guy, i was convinced to proceed. He says that like new valve bodies will be an extremely tight fit for their valves with the o rings. They contemplated supplying the next size down o ring but havent yet. I was able to work the valves in their bores and gained confidence that they will function as needed. There were 2 specific ones that gave me fits. Luckily one was just the replacement o ringed steel plug and not a cycling valve. This is their base kit with no shift valve uprgrade.
I finished install and it test drives great. It certainly seems like a band aid, like mentioned before.

I haven't dealt with them at all, but like James, I question the use of a rubber o-ring on a moving valve. I've been keeping my eye out for updates on the kits after they have some miles on them.

Basically a ratiotek kit already installed on n a vb plus tcc lock up mods and oil flow mods. You’re still gonna have the eighth gear down shift issue down the road.
I had watched a video of a Suncoast rep talking about all their hard part and clutch upgrades as well. Oddly enough didn't really mention valve body specifics

They would probably make for a great stock rebuild. No one has had a trans that can hold 6-700hp for any decent amount of time though. You cant fix the E clutch issue even with tuning, vb mods or different clutches. You probably get 550hp to stand up but your on borrowed time beyond that.

I find it odd suncoast says the vb helps with the “F” clutch pack though. I feel thats a typo

Old thread I know. Sonnax has a kit to fix the low limit feed valve issues. That is the main issue with the downshift issue into second gear while at speed. Just put in. Easy sleezy.

When did you get a new vb, James? And do you know if it's an updated design? I haven't been in tune with it much

Like 2-3 days ago. Its a factory replacement. Not sure if its upgraded, gm didnt say but it is an updated part number. There was a 3+ month backorder so i got one coming (there wasnt a fix for the vb yet) plus the other issues these vb have, figured id better get one before i had issues. They sent me two and billed me for two so i put one up for sale here for a week if someone needed it, otherwise its getting sent back.
