Good evening. Here with another stupid question because I’d rather ask something stupid than do something stupid. Is it safe/ok to power wash the engine/engine bay on my 2002 Silverado 2500 LB7? If not, what is the best way to get it cleaned up? I don’t want to fry anything or cause any damage. I’ve power washed several of my gas engine Chevy trucks before, but didn’t know if I could the same with my new to me old Duramax.
Thank you

You want to stay away from the FICM, Alternator, ECM and TCM. Fuse box is probably also good to keep dry.

I pressure washed my LB7 a number of times without issues. Just keep the above in mind

Use some of this foamy engine cleaner with a hot water hose. No need for the power washer except for maybe some tough build up spots.

TX of course
I have washed everything under the hood of my LBZ 100s of times. I’m not scared to give anything under there a once over with a 2000 psi or less pressure washer. Now I wouldn’t hang out spraying any of the above mentioned items or hit them with anything more than 2000 psi but I’ve never had a single issue with washing an engine compartment on any truck. Same thing for my ‘09,(2)’15, and ‘22. However, I only owned each of those trucks for a couple years and they only got washed a handful of times. My 06 I’ve had since new.

I've power washed for years on many different vehicles with no issues. Use the yellow tip as it sprays a wider pattern with less force, I've done it over the electronics and let it dry completely before starting. Make sure you have no loose electrical connections. Don't wash directly on the electrical plugs but give it a sweeping motion throughout the engine bay.
