Sorry guys. The gopro battery took a shit and the charger couldnt keep up. We tried to get another battery in it at the next pit stop but wasnt working out because we had a thumb adjustment screw in the way (tighten with a phillips screw driver). So needless to say, it failed. Sucks cause the last two in cars have been great!

We wound up having nate jump out at the end of lap one (he got sick from lack of food that morning), i jumped in as driver and our buddy jarrett was co dawg. I got 3/4 the way around and front driveshaft twisted in half. We yanked it and took back off in 10 min. Still in 6th place. Got to main pit and nate was feeling better. Since the car was hurt and no spare front driveshaft, i knew nate would push harder than me so i jumped out and let him drive again. He 3/4 of the way around lap 3 and snapped the axle off clean at the cv. So with 1 wheel drive and not being able to get over a steep climb, we were done.

Hell of a race through. Monster energy car next to us at the start endoed in n the short course where we started. We damn near did the same but our car didnt buck nearly as hard off the lip. 4 cars total wrecked hard on that jump so they cut everyone from running it lol.

I’d love to. Legit bucket list of mine but they will not. They have absolutely no desire to go down there.

At some point in my life, I’ll eitherrace the 1000 or I will run the racecourse in my rig and make a long trip out of it.

There’s some good talk about running Vegas to Reno this year though. That’s another bucket list Race of mine.

I heard Baja is dangerous, my surfer buddies won’t go anymore. They say it is full of bandits that rob you of everything including your cloths and shoes.

I’m planning a slow overland style Baja trip in 2029.

It’s one of the few things that gets me through the day.

Been that way a long time. Back in 2006 when I lived in SoCal a buddy and his wife had their suburban stolen while they were asleep in the back of it. They waited until the vehicle slowed down enough and bailed out the back. I heard stories of guys out there testing and they would dig pits that would get you stuck pour gasoline all over the place and light your rig on fire.

Thats been that way since the 80’s. You stay out of certain areas in town, park in gated/guarded areas that are trusted and keep friends around. Safer than downtown LA imho lol

The mexican booby traps are common on race course. They dont dump gas and burn your shit though. Now if you go on a ranchers land, shit will get western if they catch you

You gotta understand that the 1000 down there is like our superbowl. All of baja comes out to watch. Race teams are they greatest thing in the world to them. The cartel doesnt even mess around with it because of the revenue it brings them. They use it to their advantage from american money being spent at bars, strip clubs and food. Now you stay our of their private bars/clubs and you dont go walking down unoccupied streets much like mardigras but i have many many friends that go down there for fun or to race and have 0 issues.

Matter of fact, when my brother wrecked his dirt bike racing the 1000 in the pro class with his friends (were currently 3rd overall), he dislocated his shoulder (100mph crash over a culvert). The mexicans jumped in to make sure stayed laying down, didnt move, moved race traffic, radioed weatherman about the crash and helped my dad get to him to get him to a little hospital a couple hours away. He was literally in the middle of no where, half way down the coast on the east side when that happened.

I’m with James.

I’m sure there are dangers out there. But shit so is there in any big city in the states.

Be smart, be nice and enjoy Baja
