I've been looking around for awhile and haven't noticed any code readers for this truck yet. My EFI Live V2 just says vehicle undetected when I plug it into my 24 and I sold the old edge cts with my LMM.

What have you guys found for a decent code reader and has ability to clear codes for these?
I'm going on 18,000kms so far with 0 issues, just want to be able to clear limp codes since I'm gone from home for work a fair bit.

I'll have to update them again and see. I notice that is for V8 software, what about just using the V2 as a standalone? Don't want to need the laptop.

When you update the software it should come with updated firmware that you will have to load too in order to use it standalone

Both software and firmware are up to date. When plugged into obd2 on truck and try to pull up dtcs it says no vehicle detected still.

I'm thinking that update is for up to 2023 L5P.

Any generic code reader will pull generic codes for OBD2 stuff. If you want to read gm codes and data, autel will or the gm mdi2. I’m sure there are more unless gm put a protocol in place like dodge did but I don’t remember reading that. We really only use our Matco maximus or mdi2 for reading anything newer than 2019

I bought a banks I dash gauge. It is using beta software for the lm2 diesel but it works about 95% as far as I can tell. It can clear codes and is a pretty decent monitor. It wasn’t cheap once you buy the mount though. I ordered a new CTS for it and Edge still hasn’t updated the software yet, I just get no vehicle detected prompt. I think Banks has a monopoly so far on the 24’s.

So both EFI and Edge do not work with the 24s, interesting. I seen Edge CTS 3 was advertised to work with the new ones guess not yet. You haven't tried the banks with the gen 2 L5P?

Still looking for someone that can confirm they've used a working code reader on a 24 L5P.

Have you successfully pulled and cleared codes on 24 yet?

Yes with the mdi2 but we knew that going into it since the mdi2 is gm’s scanner system. My dads 24 threw a code for maf and all kinds of stuff because he forgot to plug the maf sensor back in when pulling the air filter

You must have a subscription through acdelco tds to use it. Being we do a lot of gm trucks at the shop I run, it’s no biggy.

See if EFI will pull the data stream on the LM2. I have an Ultimate and had to call banks b/c certain things were not working. I was told the L5P in select trims uses different communication protocols with the rest of the truck hence why I could not see certain things.

CTS3 Insight has been installed in my 24 for a couple months now. Will read and clear codes. Has a decent PID list aswell. Shows calculated line pressure which is neat.

I purchased an ICON T7 bidirectional scanner a few weeks ago for troubleshooting some issues with my 2023 L5P. I wasn't sure what to expect for a $350 scanner from Harbor Freight. I am actually surprised at how functional it is. It can do basic scans and erases, or do more in depth testing, actuating, data streaming, and recording. I have read some horrible reviews about it, so far my one gripe is only being able to view and record 4 data streams at one time, 8 would be more helpful.
