The 68r is an amazing charger, if you are looking to add more throw a charger on top of it. You retain great drivabilty/spool with the added power. I'm a little bias, but I'd give Mark a shout and ask about the results the 485s are yielding! :thumb:

Those Stainless S485's are the most powerful S400 based turbos we have every tested by 100hp so I'm a little bias too! The sound they make is almost worth more than the power, lol!

Mine at 780hp ran 11.27@120mph and I left it like that and when we took the motor apart 6 months after I made that pass there was nothing wrong with the rods and pistons. Rod damage has to do with cylinder pressure and how and when it is applied to them. Torque is the issue.

That's why your gonna do the tuning on mine when it's time:thumb:
And making my truck as light as possible won't hurt.

I wonder how much this charger can make with a 200% over injectors, a big cam, and wagler extreme heads

More than likely the heads would hurt more than anything.
I've watched it hurt numbers more times than help with the X heads on "small air" and by small air I'm talking about 1000hp+ s400 2.5's.
This is real world engine Dyno info. Not joe blows just to have a answer info.

200overs would be fine, Mark had 250s in his stock motor when he did the 780hp. Aswell as some others having 200-250s that I know of.

I agree 100% with heads hurting in lower numbers. Also "big cams" arent great either for vgt at least from what iv seen and talked to mark about. My engine has a 6480AF and with a 72vgt it doesnt really start pulling hard until 3000+rpm. Not that it doesnt pull hard earlier but its doing much better in the higher rpms. Mark said a 3388 would have been a better option.

As far as the original OP's question, we have a CCSB lbz with a 68stg2r and 60%s and 10mm pump on proxes make 11.30 passes at the end of this past season. Marks VGT's are awesome.

LMAO.... dreaming, indeed. I got on the scale at the scrap yard yesterday, with the trailer somewhat empty, it was 20,600. Guess I need to empty out my side boxes before I try to go fast.

Loaded up, around 26k total weight. Hitting the road in the morning for New Mexico, and picking up a Cadillac CTS-V along the way. On a 68 Stg2r, to bring the post back full circle :)

I towed that trailer from Alaska to Texas, headed for Jersey, loaded at appt 31k total.... until the factory piston cracked in North Texas. This rig has some miles under her girthy belt! From Texas, I'm headed to New Mexico with the V, then moving to Vegas this summer. Gotta 'swing back through' Jersey to load up the household goods sometime in June, too.
Pics of the V!

I'll get some sexy shots loading her up in the rig on Saturday! This is all I've got for now.

Pushing big sticks or stock fuel? Supporting mods? Whos tuning and what tunes if you dont mind? I had a thread a little while back asked about this charger. Its one nice piece. Oh yeah hows towing and DD with the whistle? Thats the only thing im curious about. I dont mind some more noise but from the videos its screaming loud. I will be towing with the family till the truck gets retired and put on light duty.

i mean as far as testing that charger up the hills. id be curious how it does EGT wise and temp wise. right now, i was grossing the same as you pulling 70mph up the hills without issue at 1150 egt but i have a modded stock ihi with a precision s483 over it and 100% over injectors.

I DD and tow with mine, but since I've gotten the charger I honestly haven't towed anything over 12K. But from what I've seen, it's low EGT's and great turbo braking. Any of my lower tunes are nice and cool EGT because there's so much cool air available.
