LB7 to LBZ (Wiring)

From what I read, there is not much to it. Please feel free to correct anything I may have wrong below, as this is what I have found so far.

On the C100 connector
Body side "C" (BN) needs moved to "N"
Body side "M" (YE) needs moved to "R"
Body side "G" (TN) needs to be moved to "J"
Add a purple wire to "B" for 6spd tap shift, tap into the pink wire on the steering column
Add a wire to "F" for GM LAN (+)- You'll run this wires to the OBD port "6"
Add a wire to "G" for GM LAN (-)- You'll run this wires to the OBD port "14"
C2(in electrical center AKA under hood fuse block):
Move the Orange wire from F4 to A8
The wire you move on C2 is the TCM power.

On the C2 harness under the fuse box, there are two orange wires that need to be moved to match where they were on the LB7. If not the truck will crank/die about 7-10 times before starting.
The lower rad. hose is diff. LB7/LBZ so I cut the two in the center, inserted a 2" SS tube bead rolled on both ends.
The LBZ Intake Heater grid fuse and fuse holder need to be added to the LB7 as well.
It was a pretty simple swap, and I would do it again over LB7 injectors in the truck anyday, lol. Some more needed PN#s below...

** A 6spd. trans needs to be used, or convert your 5spd. to a 6spd.(TCM, NSBU, Internal harness, Valve body) 6spd tap shifter, 6spd cluster, LBZ throttle petal and petal harness. Am I forgeting anything?

Thank you for posting this. Henry recently posted the connector diagrams for the C100 in GMSpecs area, too.

Once I get a better Internet connection driving or at a rest stop on this long boring I 70 I will log in to Gm service info and post the 01-03 to see if there the same.

I thought about swapping to lbz stuff this year, but i added it up, and ill probably just keep buying new lb7 injectors. Getting new heads, injectors then sending them to exergy, transmission and some of the other power stuff, injectors will be cheaper. But i will def consider this when i go open driveline. This is a good write up.:thumb:

Russ, is the conversion on an 01-02 LB7 truck or 03-04 LB7 truck???

03-04 LB7. It's to much of a hassle to transplant an LBZ into an 01-02 truck. The computers talk a different speed and language from one another. You'd pretty much have to change every computer, and rewire a ton of stuff to put a 03-07 engine in to a 01-02. That is why most people don't bother with it. Again it's possible, but way to much headache for what is it worth.

Those two do not need to be moved, they are unused
Body side "G" (TN) needs to be moved to "J"
Add a purple wire to "B" for 6spd tap shift
or you can use the gray wire that is already there and tap into it near the guage cluster.

Add a wire to "F" for GM LAN (+)
Add a wire to "G" for GM LAN (-)

It depends on what your doing with it, full time puller/racer you wouldnt have to mess with most of the headache.

the lb7 has totally different wiring and bcm ecms etc... to do that swap you would need the complete wiring out of a 03 up truck along with most of its interior electrics to do that

Not always! I'm wrapping up an LBZ with an HTT 68 in an 02. Using LLY injectors, and driven by the LB7 electronics. I'll do a write up when I finish, and have some free time. But yes, the above is for 03 and later.

So how much of a 06 harness would be needed to work in a 02? Bale conn to fuse box or bale conn to inside of truck? Already have lbz ecm and tcm, and assumeing the bcm would be needed also. Just trying to get a list of all items needed to make this work.

Depends Wich way you want to do it. If you run it off the lb7 controls, you don't use any of the newer wiring, ECM, tcm. This thread is for putting an LbZ in an 03 or newer truck.
