What converter

I'm starting to look at a new converter for my truck. Mods are in the sig. Only thing is I may go to a 475 single or i may just finish of going to 66/80 twins.

The converter I have is a itw(idaho transmission warehouse) made with precision parts. It's a stock stall so it's just really tight even with the 66 by itself it's hard to hold 7-8 lbs of boost without pushing threw the brakes which doesn't let me launch as hard I believe I could. So what's a good converter to go to?

I'm running a precision made for diesel addiction an love it. It's a high stall and my truck 60s really good with it. I leave the line at around 2800 with drag radials, I have seen it build to 3200 at the line but I launched terrible that high. Believe it or not even being a high stall it still couples great on the street for daily driving. You don't get that engine reving blowing through the converter feel you get with some converters. Precision will sell you one directly built on the same specs. If your doing the 475 single I'd consider this one. Really don't know how it would do with twins.

I think the stall should be considered based off your turbo(s) needs to spool, so I would try and nail down which way you're gonna go and also consider all the duties you still want the truck to perform and how ya want it to drive...

If it were me, I think a 2200-2400 rpm would be good stall speed for twins and 2600-3000rpm would be good stall speed for a big single, maybe go right in the middle with a 2800rpm stall?

I may be understanding how it works incorrectly but
Also how it multiplies torque will be a big factor, wether it multiplies low or high in the rpm. If it has a lot of torque multiplication built in low you'll feel a lot right off the line but it decreases linearly as rpm raises, if it's set up to multiply torque higher in the rpm you'll feel less of the line but greater torque at higher rpm and at the shifts and essentially "feel" more torque through the rpm band and at peak power and the peak of the tq curve would be raised in the rpm

If I understand it correctly?

Im going to get mine restalled, prob 2800. Being 2wheel I need to hit the slicks hard, 2200 just pushes my brakes bad, and depending on track prep depends on my hook. I can get 10# max at launch with my 2200 stall.

2000-2100 rpm and I'm pushing threw I need looser if I could stall 2300 I think I could be around 10-12 psi launch and have a better pass down the 1/4

I promise your going to want to leave with more rpms than that if you get the 475. Besides if you could have a converter that would stall high for the track and still couple good for daily driving its a win win. I'm not trying to push you towards the converter I have it's just the only high stall I can comment on, I have no experience with the others on the market.

I like the 1058 for a DD rig. It'll get ya around 2500 rpm and 25-30 psi and drives great on the street. Works really good with an s400 single and should be good with non vvt compounds. If you want looser yet, a 55 or a 53-1 is another option.

The 53-1 is what that Graves guy was using in the Hollyrock truck that ran so well...

The Suncoast 10531 will get you all the boost your heart desires;) 2800 stall is too loose for towing heavy but it'll be your best friend at the track. With cheaters I cut 1.60 60's. The Hollyrock cc pulled off 10.1 @ 6900 lbs with this converter.

Should do equally good pulling to id imagine I do dd my truck a lot I don't think i'll ever tow with it again that's what my dodge is for :D

You should be good. I DD my 2700 stall precision and it works awesome. Im gonna attempt to tow my sea doos up to Tahoe in a few weeks with my 75mm the summit hits 7,000ft im gonna be spending a lot of time in 3rd gear LOL
