5/3/1 is a slow program, but if you have plateaued it could help switch things enough to get you moving back up.

Did second week of deadlift cycle tonight.

End of cycle ends with a 570 double, I am excite.

I have heard of it just never used it or been around any that had...

I didn't go to the gym today but I just finished a marathon 21 hr concrete pour!!! I didn't do any dead lifts BUT I did carry a bunch of dead weight(guys were droppin like flies) & I did thousands of reps w/ the trowel!!!! I'm shot right now I can barely untie my boots!!!

Are you running that program?

Yes, but I have been lifting using various methods and programs for 35 years. I can't move the same weight today that I could when I was younger, but 5-3-1 will without a doubt increase your bench. Oh and I should have mentioned that Rippetoe's Starting Strength is a good primer to read for the basics of lifting correctly. It took me years to figure out what is already contained in that book.

I'm on Candito's 6 week program.
weeks 1 & 2 are 5 days
weeks 3 & 4 are 4 days
week 5 is only 3 days
week 6 get new 1 rep maxes or use his percentage calculator and week 5s weights to estimate your new 1rm.

His programs are free. You just have to plug in the date and your 1rm for squat, bench, & deadlift. Then you decide on what acc. lifts you want to use.

If this program stalls on me I might look into 5-3-1 or something else but so far Candito's offers the most flexibility in the programing.

After a 2 month lay off I finally got back to working out. Talk about being weak and slow. Prior to the injury I had ran my first sub 6 minute mile and was knocking out PR's often. Going back to Crossfit 3 mornings a week and strict strength 2 nights a week. Let's hope I don't fall on my f**kin head again lol

Hand stand push ups. My PT thinks that is what caused the constant dizziness I was experiencing. 4 months of dizziness will make you sad. I also had some c1-c2 dysfunction so I had that corrected so I regained full range of motion in my neck. I didn't realize how crucial it was to keep a neutral neck position until this. Scary stuff. I will be skipping HSPU and going straight to a heavy DB press

Yep, guy has to be careful... I see a Chiropractor and get a couple deep tissue/tai massages a month just for maintenance. Gotta keep that spine straightened out:thumb:

I have slowly started putting overhead press work back into my routine. I kept jacking up my back between the shoulder blades pushing heavy overhead, so baby steps now:D

Just go nice and easy and listen to your body... I need to learn to do that better myself:D

That's exactly what I did today the workout was 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps of squat cleans and burpees. I stopped halfway and called it good I was fatigued and felt taxed. The strength portion was 5x2 of 80% 1RM front squat. Usually I go as hard as possible usually to the point of passing out. Not anymore

Maybe work on your breathing. You shouldn't pass out frequently from that level of exertion at your age.

It's weird I used to workout outside solely ever since I went indoors I feel way more light headed. I do notice I take shallow breaths during workouts probably a large part of it.
