Chris, I think you will like the 6 week program. It's the one that has been best for me, I suggest finding your true one rep max. The first cycle I did the rep test to determine my max and it was a struggle and somewhat discouraging. I was having trouble hitting some of the lifts. I tested my 1RM before the 2nd cycle and the 6 week program felt much better and I was seeing more consistent gains in strength. My ego may have been a contributing factor the my 1RM max in cycle 1 to. Once I set that aside I started to see much better results.

It's a solid program. I agree with Tyler on finding your true one rep max or if you use a rep calculator try to keep the rep counts under 5, it's more accurate. But as with anything it won't work if your bouncing around all the time just stick with it and enjoy the results.

Thanks for the advice guys. I got the impression its not something to guess at or inflate at all. I might even go 10 lbs less than my 1rm on squats & DL just to make sure I hit everything on my first run through it. I did my bench 1rm this week, 185. I was surprised by this since I dont bench a lot and have never worked at that weight.

Candito has areas were you can adjust your potential 1 rep max. If you fail to get his prescribed set of 10 or whatever he has you decrease your weight by 5% or so. That way you don't start failing workouts and you can keep hitting numbers. Just get it close Chris and you will be fine. Need to practice 1 rep maxes.... It's whole nother ball game:thumb:

I think I'm going to run Candito's 6 week program after I finish cutting later this year. Seems to be one of the most popular programs where people see consistent results

You won't be disappointed, it really is a solid program for beginners and intermediate lifters (3-5 years program lifting).

Advanced lifters will notice a bit of a stall in bench progress... I think it needs just a tick more work in that area but that's easy enough.

For the married guys, do you deadlift with your ring on? (random but was thinking of it today while lifting)

I bought a qalo ring. Qalo.com. $25 for a men's ring. It's medical grade silicone so it's kinda stretchy but it doesn't affect my grip on bench, squat, dead, row any of that. I leave my nice ring at home

I haven't worn my ring in close to 20 years... Heavy equipment tech and fingers tore off or skinned to the bone don't interest me to much:D

A good sharp barbell will F that ring up in a hurry on the heavy pulls.
