Always wanted a lathe after using a friend of mines lathe for a few parts. so many times ive needed to turn things down or wanted a press fit to keep things straight and weld up. i had posted on a local forum im on about lathes and what to get when one of the guys called me and told me about a lathe his neightbor was selling (actually mulitple lathes/mills/ect, he was a machinist for years). he had a perfect sized lathe for me. 10"x36" bed Rockwell lathe that has been pretty well kept up (least that i can tell). Came with a ton of tooling, some stuff ill have to research how to use. Also need to change the original motor from 3 phase to a single phase. Im pretty stoked to have one finally!

You can pick up a cheap VFD off of Fleegay and run that 3 phase motor very easily no hp loss either. I did my lathe this way and it's worked great for the last couple of years. Motor was a oddball so it was not worth trying to replace, plus those cheap VFD's can be had for roughly $60.

not worth it for this little guy. its a 3/4hp motor on it and i can pick up good used 3/4 motors in single phase for 40-50 bucks. i may go bigger if i can fit it. if it was a bigger lathe over 3hp, i probably would cause the 5hp single phase motor i picked up for my compressor was not cheap.
